Hi all, I have a couple of locomotives with the E138079 slider, but they have issues that other locs do not. Is there a longer slider that can be used to replace this one? Will E206370 work? Thanks, Brandon Edited by user 19 December 2013 17:03:23(UTC)

Hi Brandon,
It would be helpful if you would say which locomotives you are talking about. I'm familiar with the old four digit numbers, but I didn't memorize the newer spare-part numbers so far.

Going off the top of my head here... one thing you need to consider if you need a longer slider.
If the current slider is shorter than the wheel base length, you may need to go 2 steps longer to have the end bumpers/spoon/spring retainer thingy found at each end of the slider clear the axel when it rises to clear the turnouts. |

Marcus, This would have been helpful for me to provide. 37811 / BR50 and 29720 / 221. These are the clip on type sliders. I think I found the answer, if I understand the translation: http://www.web-hgh-moba.de/inde...154-mittelleiter-betriebIt appears to me that E138079 is the "quiet" slider and E206370 is the "normal" slider, but appears they are interchangable. I have a number of locos with E206370 (36080 V80, 29440 BR44, etc) with this slider. To E206370 looks more rigid (hence more noise), but I think may work better for me. I'll have to try a slider swap a bit later and see if this is true. Of course if there are other slider options I am still interested. -Brandon |

Hi Brandon, Yes, I think you are right those two are interchangeable. I found this post on Stummis: sliders I do have a couple spare 206370's if you want to trade?  Gordon

It doesn't happen on all of them, but other locos do not any any problems on these. I suspect since these newer sliders are so thin, it may just be out of form a bit. I have fiddled with it a bit which has changed the results, but not resolved the issue. I will try a swap with 206370 and report the outcome shortly. It seems like with BR50 no problems at the moment, but time will tell. I haven't extensively tested this one on all my layout routes yet. Hi all,
I wanted to report that last night I swapped an E206370 slider onto my BR221, and after testing the loco runs as it should in all previous trouble spots. E206370 has a more rigid slider bar/ski than E138079, which probably forces better contact and thus resolves my issues. E138079 has a thin and flexible slider bar/ski, which makes less noise but probably not as even of contact over all the pukos it touches, especially if there is any distortion in the metal.
Both sliders (the original E138079 and E206370) are the same size. If swapping, note they are directional, so pay attention to the direction of the previous slider and install the new one in the same orientation.
