A very pleasant traintrip for German people to Amsterdam and back.
Only drawback was that steam had to be replaced by Diesel at Amersfoort because of bush fires caused by the 01.
This is remarkable by itself because there is little bush left in Holland!
The E 18 seems to be in excellent condition, nice machine!

Peter, you can set quality to HD if your PC allows that.
The E-18 is really beautiful.
I understand that the German guests were very happy with the easy solutions found for the ban on using steamer 01 in Holland.
Amsterdam does do miracles to people,a German lady picked up a few Dutch words already!

Cheers,
Paul.

Dan,

I am a member of the SSN in Rotterdam, they operate the 01 1075 and cross the German border on a regular basis.
Please see their site www.stoomstichting.nl,partly in English if you click the Union Jack.
They have a trip planned from Rotterdam to Essen and back on 21st December 2013 for Euro 99.-/person,Essen will have a typical German Christmas market, should be good.
Next trip is between 8th and 11th May 2014 to the German Eiffel area.
I expect them to plan two more in 2014,hopefully either to Apeldoorn late summer or to Bochum again also in the same period.
Details not yet known.
Must say they have been a bit more careful with planning trips lately because of the economic crisis people tend to save money and forget about steamtrips.
Could be that German clubs are also planning trips, perhaps even to Holland.
Google with "Plandampf" ("Planned Steam") could give you the answer.
I will keep my eyes open over the next months but i really expect more activity during springtime 2014.

Cheers,
Paul.
