You should be able to mix European and British O - so long as the Lenz stuff uses the standard 32mm gauge then they should mix. IIRC Lenz models come with optional scale three link/screw couplings that would be able to hook up to Parkside kits. It'll probably be similar to mixing HO and OO models.
I don't know about European O kits - not really researched them.

Steven - frankly, got no idea about PIKO quality when it comes to big scale ...
Guess they are similar to LGB. Thus at €200 for the starter set I'll give it a try
(when not satisfied, entirely - it gets a go to the Grandkids' train box

Here is my winter outdoor setup this year. Last year was an RhB loco running around outside the front garden. Enjoy!

A couple of those Piko cars look very similar to LGB ones from before the great crisis - the ore hopper especially.
I would have more enthusiasm for Piko (and LGB) if they'd made their German standard gauge models to true 1:32 scale Gauge 1 rather than the odd mangled one they chose. I was sorely tempted by the Piko BR. 218 until I saw one in the plastic, the shape just doesn't look right to me. One of those situations where it would have cost no more to get it right to begin with, and they'd have cleaned up in the Gauge 1 market with far lower prices than Marklin. Get the basic shape and dimensions right and you can have fairly basic detailing for the younger market, the serious modellers will enjoy adding more.
