Is there anything new or any edition after the book "KOMBI" ?

Or any other edition about Marklin K ?

Christos,

I could be wrong, but I have not see anything with the Kombi branding in a long time. I think about 10-12 years. Maybe someone else knows the details, but I suspect this program was cancelled, replaced by the MyWorld expansion sets (C1, C2, C3, etc) using C track.

Thank you for the answer. Do you have any layout with marklin K ? Or any type of plastic and nickel tracks ?Though the interests and the images anybody has are different because you (I mean "people and friends in America") usually lay yard stations in a simple trapezoid shape, with switches in a row.
The book "KOMBI" (MA 07450) had some layouts with switches 2260, 2262/63 and 2267.

But the german firm have to work on marklin K more seriously and improve the nessecity and importance of using sleek switches 2271 and 2275 that are nearer to the reality seen in large cities and their stations. Moreover they need to create a fourth curve with r=489.30 mm with standard pieces for 30 or 60 degrees.

So the four lanes that connect FRANKFURT M HBF and FRANKFURT SUD BF can be designed and laid as following :
(and with hope that they will change the system into a five-digit-system by a distant time) :
1st, R2, NORMAL CURVE II, 3X2231 -> 3X22230, r=424.65 mm.
2nd, R3, N E W & suggested, HOPE TO BE ENCODED AS 3X22330, r=489.30 mm. (today it can be made only with an 2205).
3rd, R4, LARGE CURVE I, 3X2241 -> 3X22430, r=553.95 mm.
4th, R5, LARGE CURVE II, 3X2251 -> 3X22530, r=618.60 mm.

Are you referring to the KOMBI extension set program?
With K track it was K+O+M+B+I.
With M track it was S+E+T1+T2+T3.
With C track it still is C1+C2+C3+C4+C5.
With all three track systems you got the same layout - like the old Toporama 7298.

Without K track starter sets, the KOMBI program is no longer needed.
IMHO you don't need all those R1 curves and curved turnouts for a "modern" layout.

People often ask for new C track pieces. And a new "R3" for K track would also be a logical extension.

It's a shame they've given up on the K track starter sets. Without them even less people will use K track, leaving it on the margins of the 3 rail sector of the hobby.

Anyone seriously considering an exhibition layout in 3 rail should use K track, ballasted by hand, for the best realism. C track layouts will always be viewed by the purists as a "toy train" rather than a model railway, but it has become the track system of choice for most Marklin modellers mainly due to it's ease of use and its convenient geometry.

I believe that K track starter sets went some way to encouraging beginners to use K track and might even have attracted some 2 rail users to Marklin.

I have always used Marklin K, when I started with Marklin I always had K track and never M. I have some C track now, but not a lot. My previous layout was K track. I am also building my current layout in K track (link to my layout: https://www.marklin-users.net/fo...rawer---August-12th.aspx)

I also have always used Marklin track, I havn't tried other types. The stainless K track (2200 series) has always held up very well for me. I do have some of the older 2100 series K, but I wouldn't recommend using it today. I do plan to ballast my track.

Regarding turnouts, as you may see in may layout plan I use the 2262/2263 a lot, as well as 2267/2268. I also use 2260 double slip. Yes, I like the wide radius turnouts for K, they look great. But for me, I have a limited amount of room for a layout. So, I compromise and use the R1 turnouts so I can fit everything I want into the amount of space I have. In a perfect world I would probably use the wide ones. In general I have used a variety of curves, R1 through R5 (2221, 2231, 2241, 2251), and even a few R9 curves (2274). Sure, it would be nice to have no R1...but for my space, it's not realistic. Also, it dos not bother me so much. I still enjoy running the trains.

That said, I would always welcome additions to the K track range!

I am sure Marklin will make K track for a long time to come, but I doubt we will see much change...and probably not a newer version. They did improve a few years ago to stop using the copper contacts between the track sections, which IMO has helped a lot.

I started with a K starter set, 2980. For me, it was a Christmas present that started me in the world of Marklin. I do, however, agree that a K starter set (maybe on the higher end) would help to attract modelers who were more prototype concerned. I am certainly glad to have it, since I can still get more new K track today when I need it. It certainly holds up over time. The stainless I have from the late 80s is just as good today.

Yeah, ...... concerning the emplacement of available rooms or areas you can use two rooms by converting a piece of wall into a small pass for the ramps.
(Even the rooms are narrow).

Also you have a digital planning program. Will you lay some diagonals ? and tell the parallel clearance from line 1 to line 3 ?

1st case : 2275, 2207, 2293, 2275, 2207, 2293, 2275, 2207, 2293, 2275.
2nd case : 2275, 2201, 2208, 2275, 2201, 2208, 2275, 2201, 2208, 2275.
3rd case : 2275, 3X2202, 2275, 3X2202, 2275, 3X2202, 2275.

From some tipps we know that the parallel center to center space, using double slip switches 2275, is :
without 2203 : 57 mm
with one 2203 : 64.65 mm
with 2X2203 : 72.30 mm
with 3X2203 : 79.95 mm
with a 2202 : 68.475 mm or 68.48 mm

with 2202+2203 : 76.125 or 76.12 mm

Hi all.
I'm glad to see that you have important and rare memories. Today i looked at my old catalogues. 1987, 1988, 1995, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2010.

I spent some time for searching tricks and plans for something better. If anybody thought of something more extraordinary with larger curves and radii.
You can also write any answer or proposal in my other topics, kombi editions 2 etc.
