Fieuw finally I m able to get back on the forum, Mehmet, I see you are spending a lot of time being visited by people, that s awesome and you know what they say, if people return then it must be a good place to go . If we would ever be in the neighbourhood, will we will surely do our best to get to marklinistanbul! That should be really fun and it would add another flag to your list. Mehmet,
after all these years following your story and layout and noticing your logo: the world is analog, I thought here is a true believer in analog and I've been watching some of your latest videos and found the layout is digital. (computer screen). What a surprise = for me

John Hi John, As you said ' I am a true believer in analog!'..... On the surface everything is truely analog....but when they go under the table they change..... Or let's put in this way: I take advantage of digital world..... About my logo .....I say 'The world' not 'The train'.... Meanwhile I am not interested in digital stuff at all just because of two reasons: They are expensive and I do not believe they are as stong as analog ones either they will not last long as as long as analog ones.... Surely this is my humble thought.... sorry for the subtitle, which is in my native language... ....as the song goes, John... By the way I am closely following the magic layout of yours....and I must admit it looks / is WONDERFUL.... Cheers, mehmet |

Originally Posted by: Bigdaddynz Sorry for being OT, but relating to the mobile browsing issue, one thing I've found when browsing a thread with lots of photos, is that because it does take a while to load the complete page you might have browsed to the middle of the thread and started reading. Seconds later, the rest of the thread loads and then the browser takes you to the bottom of the thread, and you lose your place where you were reading. I guess this is a YAF feature: When you click "Go to first unread" the forum jumps to the thread, waits until all images have been loaded, and then jumps to the first unread post. With a slow connection or with many pictures (especially on Imageshack) this can take a while. Other software like phpBB will jump to the first unread post immediately, before images were loaded - this is not better, as images continue to load and with every picture the page layout will be updated and you also lose the place where you were reading (and you might lose it more than once). I don't think it's a mobile browsing issue - but the speed of the connection plays a role here, and with mobile browsing the connection is often slower. When using the PC, I open every interesting thread in a new tab. I click that tab when the "circle of death" is gone, all images have been loaded and the jump to the first unread post was completed. The number of images per post has little impact on this effect. With only one picture per post the total number of pictures per page will be lower and load time will also be lower. With 10 pictures per post, load time will be 10 times as long (and Mehmet's post counter will slow down by factor 10 ). Mehmet's picture threads are fantastic - but expect that loading images will take a few seconds while watching and reading will take a few minutes. |
