Very cool - that Meccano Ferris wheel with the train in it was a neat touch!
Old Marklin: tough enough to take 3 generations of enthusiastic play.

Thomas,

Great photos and thanks for the link. I liked the layout with both the older Maerklin solid 3-rail track and the TRIX Express bakelite track. Seems a familiar layout that I have seen displayed before from a TRIX Express/Maerklin enthusiast Rainer Haug.

I have a small collection of old TRIX Express AC locos, the earliest from 1937 and it still runs like a charm 71 years later!! I wonder whether the digital stuff will ever last that longwink

Hi Jacques,

the next meeting will be next year, same time, same location. And then with Märklin-Metallbaukasten. This was planned this year, too, but due to some medical problems (not serious) but I was unable to do the show (together with other people you know (Georg E., Stefan K.)).

Gaggenau is just some 30 kms from the French border, in the Baden-Baden area.

Regards

Markus

Jacques,

There is nothing quite like the oldies. I am all for progress in model train technology but these old trains are wonders of the technology of their day. I am sure there are a quite a few of us in this forum and in ETE who still have some of these wonderful models and can still operate them.Cool

Hi Folks
I do agree. I have some of the latest techy stuff, but my heart always goes back to my old Marklin from thz 40's and 50's.
Now, Markus!
If this is combined next year with the Schraubertreff and it takes place in Gaggenau, I will definitely be there!!!!!
Is your middle initial "GN" ( for Good News) Smile

Hi Jacques,

no, it will not be together with the "Schraubertreffen". We will just show some old showroom-models to demonstrate the "other" Marklin.

Markus
