Hello all. I am running out of power on my layout. My layout has three levels the turnouts are all digital and come of the CS with it's own transformer . All the turnout lanterns come of no 2 transformer and the lower level has a L D T booster which is not MFX and comes of no 3 transformer. It seems each time I add a new lok everything seems to slow down. Do you know if the digital booster is going to be made if not could you suggest an alternative to get me more power. I am not very happy about the LDT booster it has noise to it it sounds like short circuit but I have taken each piece of track out all the way round and I have come to a dead end the lower level is isolated by the red isolators and I am using track. |

I have five LDT boosters and none of them make any sound. Either you have a defective booster, have it hooked up wrong, or have not found the short. |

Agree, seems like you have either of the three Ron mention Unhook your LDT booster from you lower track and see if the noise still comes from the booster |

Charles: Just had a thought...don't you need a special cable to connect the CS to the 6017-type boosters? Seems to me it has a cable crossover. Are you using the special cable or the one that came with the LDT booster? Also, if you need mfx (I don't) ESU is bringing out an mfx-capable EcosBoost. |

Hello. I have just been to my layout and if you break the track with the red/brown left on the sound stops and if you remove the wires join up the track the sound stops. The sound is a pulsating buss. How do I find the fault when it stops when you break the track. Can you tell me if the red insulators are all I need to separate the mid level from the lower level. Many thanks Charles |

Yes, the red insulators are all you need. Perhaps you should check to see that they are properly installed. |

Charles:
I assume that you have an upgraded CS. You must use the cable that Marklin gave you with the upgrade. You can not use a standard booster cable with the CS. Two of the leads need to be reversed!

Hello mmervine. Please can you tell me what the Marklin cable looks like in case I have mixed them up. |

Charles:
It is easy to tell the difference. On one end of the cable, two of the leads are twisted and reversed near the connector.

Hello mmervine. The CS is a updated version and I think I am using the Marklin cable from LDT booster to CS it is only 12" long it has a loose black sleeve on it and when it gets to the plug at the CS the two wires are twisted and are covered in black heat shrunk sleeve. Were do I go from here with the pulsing noise I am getting.[:(] PS the LDT cable is over 18" long. |

Next step is to isolate a section of track completely (don't connect to other track) and hook up to booster. If it works correctly, you have the red insulators installed incorrectly. |

I have a genuine Marklin 6017 booster connected to my CS with the cable supplied with (mit) the upgrade. It makes a very quiet pulsating buzz (more like a chirp really)and the LED flickers. It has it's own transformer and powers the red and brown sockets of my k83's and k84's only. The power for the solenoid accessories, signal and building lights etc comes from a separate transformer again so the booster shouldn't be overloaded but it still chirps - not very loud as I have to turn all sound effects off to be able to hear it. Neal.

Neal I also get this pulsating buzz and LED flicker on start up. I am using 6015 and 6017 along with Ecos. The buzz is reduced - but still present a lower sound level - as soon as I start up my first engine with the ecos. Everything else operates OK.

Neal,
This is probably working as designed, (also the different generations of the 6015 might display different symptoms for the same cause - no signal from cu)
You might try ensuring you have a non-mFX (dummy) loco configure, that it has a non-zero speed set, and that th CS is set to remember/restore speed after a restart.

Hello. I have just got my replacement LDT booster plus a 6017 booster. The dip switches on the side of the 6017 are they all left switch of. I am running CS/ C Track. I know these questions mite sound a bit odd but I can not get to the CS as I am flat on my back again with my spine . It is so frustrating as I need to test the replacement LDT booster to see if I can loose the loud buzz.[:(][:(][:(] |

I have just been down to the play room to try my replacement LDT booster and the buzz is still there so I tried the 6017 and it keeps tripping out the cs it seems it is the brown wire to the transformer. If you leave the brown wire to the trans of the mid level works which is run by the cs but the bottom level which is run by the booster is dead and as soon as you connect the brown to the booster the cs trips out. The booster has its own trans so does the cs. In issue 5 page 20 of the Marklin mag they say at the transition between the power area supplied by the cs and the erea supplied by the booster a simple separation is not enough. A rocker insulator must be installed so that the pick up shoe of the lok is not able to make a connection between these power supply areas. Please can you tell me what is a rocker insulator. |

Hi Charles I remembered I have asked that question also in the past. https://www.marklin-user...ocker,insulator,ski,rampbut I can't see that not havening one would cause it to buzz unless a loc was parked right on top of it isolated section. Could your transformers be out of faze? |

Hi DT It is the track that buzzes not the booster/trans. |

I think it is a wasp trapped under the tracks. Let it out, and the buzz will disappear. Per. |

Hello Purellum. Ha Ha I wish it was that simple. The problem is still the same with the replacement LDT booster and the 6017 has a short on it .[:(][:(][:(] |
