BigGrin Hello Everyone
Hope you are all enjoying your summer!

I just have a couple of small questions I wish to ask you? I am looking for a really good HO Uncoupler Tool,I seem to recall someone in Germany /Switzerland was advertising One which was very good?? but i lost the link.maybe folk have there own favourites?

Second question:- does anyone have a favourite Scratch brush the type used for claning up track e.t.c prior to soldering? I am just learning to solder so any aids are most welcome

Many thanks SteveThumpUp

The best tool for uncoulping the cars is an ice cream stick. I prefer the shorter, wider ones from Hagen Das as it is easier to grab both uncoupler pins. The common NA popsicle stick tends to uncouple one half but if it is the wrong half, then you have to jab it again.

The hopefully dry wood from a cleaned popsicle stick would make an excelent insulator if you happen to touch the pukos. THis is why I stoped using my swiss army knike to uncouple cars.

This also does a good job with uncoupling the Fleishmann couplers too.

Now how do you get these uncoupler sticks is why you saw many topics about beer and ice cream...LOL

The marklin-users.net universal uncoupler stick.

- Compatible with all Digital protocols, also DCC.

I was very happy to find this old topic again.
I know that this have been discussed bwefore, but I cannot find the answers.

I have a major uncoupling problem
My family have during the winter (spring is soon here) collected hand uncouplers for me and gave them to me as present some days ago.
But. I cannot make them work. I have tried LH operation, RH operation, current ON, current Off etc. etc. I think that they will not work due to missing authorisation
New wooden HU

So, I have a few questions.
1- how to identify the Wooden Hand Uncouplers, if they are for analogue or digital operation?
2- How to upgrade?
3- How to tell the difference between front and rear coupler uncoupler?
4- How to determine if they are for passenger or freight trains?
5-How to achieve the approval stamp?

my family say that I will get more of them in the future.

Looking forward for all your good advices!
Best regards Svein, Norway

Hi Svein,
The photo shows ridged couplers, the only uncoupling you can do is get the 'clips' out of the NEM sockets.

Ah, Svein I can see your problem immediately!
You cannot use 4 uncouplers at once.
Some have succeeded in using two at once, but they choose to not talk about it - understandably.
One is all that you need.
Choose wisely !!!

Hello Svein,

Actually I already have the very uncoupler you need for your problem.
It is readily available, cheap, suits both analogue and digital, can be upgraded to 316 stainless steel, interchangeable for front or rear uncoupling,
same for passenger or freight trains and comes with a unique approval stamp.

I attach an image for your reference.

Regards,

PJ
