Hi, I've just bought one 3084 and found rather unusual that the end coupler on the tender is fixed. I have no doubt the screw is not original but what about the fixed set up? It looks original or is mine missing something? Photos of yours appreciated. Thank you! Alex Iamnotthecrazyone attached the following image(s):

Hi Alex,
That is how it came from the factory new. There is no issues with it being fixed. I purchased mine brand new in the 70's (yes I'm that old). I have since changed mine to a close coupler fitting, as I wanted to reduce the distance between the tender and coupled wagon. (It is still fixed)
Cheers, Brian. |

Alex, with the old relex couplers there was enough play in the coupling that they didn't need to swing. |

Perhaps, I might be forgetting but I don't recall seeing any long or short Marklin wagon or locomotive -unless they have a hook- that have fixed couplers. Because this comes from a collector that had original but also tampered with trains I was doubtful to it's originality. No big deal but I wanted to know if it was right. Thanks!

The left is 3084, the right 3684 digital. That's even better, my photo doesn't show it well but I have the chromed screw that seems completely out of character with the loco, it should be black! That was another thing that made me doubt about originality. Thank you so much!
