Hello,

Questions:

1- Are the latest 3015 models less probable to get zinc pest than the older CCS800?

2- Have the latest 3015s a considerable better painting than the older CCS800 (I mean more resistant to impact, to humidity, color change, etc)?

Best regards,
Miguel

Boa noite,

CCS800 was made for many years. It seems only the very early versions suffer badly from zinc pest. Later ones are just as good as the 3015. Personally I don't believe there is much difference in the quality of paint but the older the crocodile, the more years it had to suffer an accidents so, they are less likely to be perfect.

There are much more recent issues -different model numbers- of the 3015 in different colours and those probably have a better paint finish.

Do I detect the impending purchase of a 3015? Mine is a 1969 vintage with a hand reversing lever. Excellent paint - tannen grun- and no sign of zinc pest. It looks great running together with my 30159.

Cheers,

Mike
Why do grown men play with trains?
Their wives insist they are insane
But their dreams they won't let down the drain
'Cause there ain't no thing so hard to lose as those disappearing railway blues.

Although not for now it is a possibility for the future. At the moment just trying to understand better the old crocs (CCS800 and 3015).
