Hi,
I converted mine with a 60944 motor kit and a 60942 MLD decoder. You can probably use the decoder from the 60760 kit, but I chose the MLD to give me MFX auto-registration. It's also a better decoder performance-wise.
I kept the original bulbs, and re-used the wiring that runs through the train for the white and red lamps at each end. However I had to do without the ability to change sliders from one end to the other, so as to simplify the conversion. |

I did a full rebuild, with additional wires through the train, and relays to control the interior light and rear lights.
In addition a bi-stable relay to switch between the two pick-up shoes. This was doen a long time ago, with the conversion set 60904. Today that means motor set 60944 and decoder 60942, as stated by Ray.
If I should do this today (and maybe a future improvement) I would use an mfx sound decoder, as I did in the set 37500.
