Hello to everyone
I was going to start a layout a few years back, but due to sudden moving issues I had to wait. I bought the CS2 60213 when it first came out and the dealer also sold me the 60055 transformer, which today I realized was not the correct transformer to power the central station. Can anyone tell me the correct tranformer to power the central station with, the 60065 or the 60052? I would also like to know if I can use the other 60055 transformer with a 24088 feeder track to power a different section of the layout?
Thank you

Hi!
The 60052 is correct for 230 V mains voltage, the 60055 is correct for 120 V mains voltage (maybe they forgot to mention that number when translating the manual). Both 60052 and 60055 are transformers.
The 60065 is a power supply (not a transformer) can also be used.
For more power on the layout, you will need a booster (maybe Märklin 60174). The 24088 feeder track won't do any good and cannot be used with the CS2.
So as far as I can tell, the dealer sold you the correct transformer for your CS2. |

Thank you for your help. I asked because the transformer 60055 does not have the correct plug to fit into the CS2, it has a plug that fits into the power input of the 24088 feeder track. Is there any special adaption wire that I need to use, because I could not find any information on adaption between the transformer and the CS2.

The CS2 should include a cable that allows using it with any transformer (four-pin plug on one side, two blank ends on other side). The transformer should include a plug that can be screwed onto this cable. CS2s from starter sets come without this cable. |

Hi and Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you may not have the wire Tom mentioned, if that is the case you could buy the adapter wire or just get the 60065 power supply and sell off your 60055, on eBay they usually sell used for the cost of a new 60065, so you could break even or come out ahead and you wouldn't have to buy a wire which is around $30 if you can find one. At the time when you purchased your Central Station the US power supplies had not yet come out so the transformer you have would have been the correct one and is still good to use if you have the connection.

Thank you very much! The CS2 did not come with the cable, but the website I want to order the cable from says that it is for the 60214 and the 60215 CS2's, not the 60213 like I have. Are you sure it will work with it?
Edit- I found that it does work, thank you all again for your help!

Glad to help. Once you are up and running, you might want to update the software. You have two choices, connect the CS2 directly to the internet and direct download, or download to a USB stick. Note, the USB updates are usually delayed for some time after the internet updates. Here is a how to. https://www.marklin-user...rom-Internet-How-To.aspxr/Thomas |
