Hi John,
My next analog Loco I'll buy for you John, and keep her "safe" here at BW.
That way you can always say you have 1 analog Loco in your collection.

I just added another to the collection, this is a 1969 3188 set in the box. I may have paid to much ($133 US), as I am not yet familiar with the Marklin values like I am with Lionel or American Flyer. But either way, I like the set, it looks pretty clean and I didn't have a 3048 or any of the cars sooo
The guy also had the K track that came in the set listed separately, but I didn't min the track...
... I guess I can fill that in if need be later. I also ended up buying a pile of M track and (12) switches the other night, so I may have to lie low on the purchases for a while to keep the wife happy
So now the tally is 3 Marklin:
3048 in the 3188 set
3098
34161
It's time to get a layout up and running

Hi Dennis... I'd say you got quite a deal on that set! It looks superb and I bet hearing those sheet metal coaches on that M track is like music to your ears: think pre-war Lionel and Flyer (on a slightly smaller scale)

Hello Everyone
New to the forum.
I have a BD 24 3003 bought in 1973 and a BD 111 3155 in gray with the orange stripe I bought in Germany in 1979. Both are analoge right now but will go digital when I figure out what command system I am going to buy.

Hello,
16 of my 40 something locomotives are analog. As a kid of course all of my lok purchases were analog. When digital first came out, where possible I tried to purchase digital loks as I knew one day I would want to go digital. At the time I thought I would eventually convert all of my anlog engines. I have since changed my mind. I'm now keeping all of my older loks analog.
Of course all of my new purchases are digital. Recently I have started the tradtion of adding at least one older anlog model to my collection each year. My dealer currently has a beautiful sixties vintage BR 01 waiting for me ... as soon as he locates the matching tender. Sadly, this will be my very first lok that doesn't have a box

I keep on finding analog locos, it looks like the desease is reappearing, this time a 3474 (SEDCO), its going to be on the operating slab soon to give it a new life with 21st century goodies and an anti locking system, free of flickering, running amock, free of rocking and a central located nerve system which keeps it under surveilance all the time so nothing can go wrong.

On a total of 66 I have still 18 analogue locomotives left. I don't run those anmore and probably won't do that in the future.
About 14 years ago I decided to buy only digital (some delta) .
Some delta and analogue locomotives are converted to digital (sometimes with sound).
I have two models I will keep, a BR 53 and a BR 18.1 (Württ. C). The last one will be converted to digital one day, the first one I will keep as a curio.
I will try to sell the others, if not they will stay on the shelf.
I like the newer versions with all the details and full sound.
With kind regards
Piet Brijs

Ian,
I don't mention anything about these, these unfortunate occasions when something goes wrong, it's not worth writing about it
although statiistics would tell there are more topics about analog than digital locos having trouble, something missing, motor not turning,
