Joined: 02/08/2012(UTC) Posts: 64 Location: Nelson, New Zealand		Hi, As I have now completed work on my HO marklin layout I am looking at designing an N gauge layout (DCC). I have purchased a digitrax Zephyr xtra command controller but still very keen to run European locos (or British locos as a second choice).Not interested in American Stock My question is " Are Fleischmann, Mini-trix, Brawa etc Locos compatable now with this controller. If so, are there any pitfalls I should be aware of. Cheers Bruce

Joined: 16/02/2004(UTC) Posts: 15,438 Location: DE-NW		Hi! Most N gauge locos are sold without decoder. Current locos with decoder should support DCC. Current Märklin controllers support DCC and can also be used for N gauge (optionally with a new power supply with a lower voltage).

Joined: 12/08/2006(UTC) Posts: 9,273		Minitrix has digital locomotivs with sounds. Fleischmann,Brawa etc...has sounds too. DCC decoder for N gauge support all functions with digital system at DCC. I suggest you have between 12-14 volt output to the tracks and maximum load current at 2 amps.

If a Trix CS,then it may also have Selectrix mode.Many decoders today will 'understand' multi-protocol systems. Dr D

Trix H0 was fully märklinized (same MS2, no more Selectrix, SX connector on the CS2 will remain unused). Trix MS1 was capable of SX. They still offer decoders for DCC and SX - but those have been bought from a third party. Märklin's own decoders do not support SX. As I already wrote: most locos are sold analogue and customers add the decoder. Locos sold with sound decoder ex works should support DCC since sound decoders are rather new.
