Hi All,

I bought another classic Faller Kit that I like to show here in our Faller Corner.
It is City Gate B-921, it was one of Fallers 1965 new items, with a somewhat remarkable story.

In December 1964 - in Faller Magazin 44 - Faller announced that due to various problems no new items were coming for1965.
The Faller Company wrote quit frank about their worries and difficulties in the article 'RÜCKBLICK-AUSBLICK ! '
There were problems with their supply of raw materials, the development of products had taken longer than planned, a long list of items in the 1964 catalog was still not available at the end of that year. And the company was worried about the difficult situation in Germany at that time. So no new items till the problems were solved.

But in Februari 1965 - in Faller Magazin 45 - the Faller Company wrote in the article 'KEINE NEUHEITEN...' that they have received so many complaints about dropping the new items, that they felt compelled to bring a few new items for 1965, that were actually scheduled for later.
One of this remarkable 1965 new items was Kit B-921 that also embellishes the cover of Faller Magazin 45.

An unbuilt good B-921 kit is nowadays a bit hard to find, but now and then there pops one up on German Ebay for prices between € 60 and € 95, which I think is reasonable for such an lovely 1960s collectors item.

Marco

Interesting with that article from Faller magazine! I have not seen it before.
And the decal sheet....I did not know there were so many different clocks to chose from!
And note that there are two completeley different boxes for this set....as you can see if you look at the small pictures from E-bay

Hi Fallerfreak,

Thanks !!

And now that you mention it, I see it too, indeed two different photos on the B-921 boxes in the small pictures from Ebay. This is new to me.

Thanks for sharing Marco,

I have these models that I bought built from a large lot, but the houses were all separated.
Now I will have to look and see if I have all the parts in the sequence or not.
I still have the task of sorting all the models and making a proper inventory.

Peace,
Mark

Hi Marco,
I really want to do that.... just so many things on my "to do" list these days.
My life has been taking care of the four girls, art projects and sorting train stuff!

Will let you know when I have the photos.
Many of the models are really nice, others have bits missing and will need to be worked on.

Peace,
Mark

Hi Marco

How similar is this kit to the use St Martin gate kit?

The arch must surely be wider to accommodate the AMS track.

Hello All,

I also bought a large collection of Faller, including AMS, which badly needs sorting. I have 921 but it is built up, or in pieces somewhere in the boxes. I also have 923 still in kit form. The collection also includes two boxes -115- which are not the usual Bildkarton but resemble the patterned red Marklin boxes of the late 50"s. The Faller boxes are pinkish red with small circular pictures alternating with the company name. The 115 kit contains a Bahnsteig. My plans are to further explore my treasure trove this winter.

Cheers,

Mike
