Welcome all to the new opened therapeutic Faller AMS corner.  Finally its here !! I finally found and bought my long wanted unmounted Faller Motor Sport Cafe B-4914 !! And I want to show her to the whole world. This kit is in my Top 5 of most beautiful Faller kits ever and she is definitely the most coolest Faller model ever. The B-4914 Motor Sport Cafe is the AMS version of Faller B-214 / B-215 (that were in the Faller program from 1961 to 1979). B-215 was the version with a special 1cm flat motor hidden in the roof, that spins a company symbol on top of it. B-214 and B-4914 are not motorized. There are a lot differences in color between the B-214/215 and the B-4914 kits. The roof of B-4914 is blue instead of brown, the fencing is red instead of gray, the stairs are blue, the round table is blue....etcetera. The ground plate is also completely different and consists of 3 parts. With this groundplates B-4914 can be build in 2 variations, depending on whether you want to place it in a corner or along a straight AMS track piece. B-4914 was in the Faller program from 1963 to 1973. In the catalog 1972/73 the Café was no longer displayed, but still in the pricelist. In catalog 1973/74 the model disappeared from the price list for good. Enjoy the pictures !        |

I have some competition ! I discovered that enthusiasts of the 1960s cult science fiction series " The Thunderbirds" are also intrested in the Faller Cafe Petrolstation.. The Thunderbirds enthusiasts use the roof section to recreate the model of " The Mole".    |

Hi All, I have built the 4914 Motor Sport Cafe kit. Although B-4914 comes without motor, I placed one in it. Of course I overhauled the motor first. On one of the pictures you can see the color differences between B-215 and B-4914 (and also the different base plates). We made a small AMS test track on the desk of my son Rick. As you can see in the video a few of my my cats also enjoyed the test ride. Now I need to find a new unbuilt 4914 kit.            |

Hi Fallerfreak and Hi Glen, Thank you !! I found a second unbuild B-4914 AMS kit, but unfortunately the kit was sold directly for about 40 minutes ago... unfortunately not by me...  . But on the other hand, this kit was a bit too expensive. In my opinion € 70 to € 90 would be acceptable for an unbuild 4914 kit, but above € 100 ...????   |

A week ago an unbuild 4914 ended at 56 €uro so I guess you will find another one in your price range. It´s all about beeing patient and wait for the right occasion.

It's funny how prices for anything-AMS can be all over the place across just a few years. I've been trading and watching Faller on Ebay since the late 90's, in fact my very first trade was a bag of 50 original AMS Continental Tyres (4800/2) which at that time were going for quite high prices. Few replica's were being made then and tyres are one of the first things to go on the vehicles causing very poor running. There are some 'rare' autos which always get high prices, usually a particular model/colour variant, but some of the unbuilt kits are starting to climb as the 4914 goes to show. Suprisingly, I'm seeing prices for some AMS items to be outpacing Marklin, not sure if that's a good thing or not. If you want an unmade kit to have in your collection as just that then perhaps you would pay the price but if you intend to build it, I think you could put the same money into a few already built ones (as Marco has done very well) and make a really nice one or more from what you have. Hi Marco and others some additional pictures of the Caltex/Texaco service station. They are shot at Motell Vätterleden located between the towns of Gränna and Jönköping on E4 between Stockholm and Helsingborg, not quite 300 km from Stockholm. The motel was built in 1962 at same time as the motorway section from Jönköping to the motel was built.  I cannot identify all the cars on this photo, but my guess is (from left to right): Vauxhall Victor?? *), Chevrolet Impala?, Volvo Amazon around 1965, Opel Rekord Coupé around 1964, Opel Rekord around 1961 and finally half a Volvo 544?  I found these pictures on the Internet after having seen your of the Caltex and the green sign "INFART" meaning "entrance" or "way in" in Swedish. (By the way it is virtually the same word as the German "Einfahrt"). And finally a link to the Internet pages of the motel. Have a look at more pictures at "About us" and "Finding us". ______________ *) With F-registration, indication that it is registered in the County of Jönköping. Before 1972/73 you could tell the home County of a car by the initial letter(s) of Swedish registration plates. Marco, thanks for the link. It was actaully one of the hits I got when I googled pictures and "Motell Vätterleden" This is a thread which should be about the Faller AMS Cafe (AMS = Auto Motor und Sport and I believe Faller had a license agreement with a German magazine, but I may be wrong here) and before I de-rail it too much, I would like to point out that we, in my mind, don't have a scenic railway line like the Rhine valley lines south of Cologne. On the other hand we have one of Europe's most scenic motorway sections from Jönköping to Motell Vätterleden, where the engineers purposely built the southbound lanes raised 4 to 6 metres compared to the northbound lanes (and since we changed to right hand traffic on September 3rd, 1967 it is today the northbound lanes that are higher up). This means that you get a good view of the lake Vättern irrespective if you go north or south. This picture is relatively recent (and from Motell Vätterleden's Internet pages), meaning that it was shot from a car in the northbound passing lane.  I know this road very well since I normally drive it at least twice every year. It is almost at the half-way point between Stockholm and Malmö or Copenhagen and nearly at the one third-way point between Stockholm and Hamburg.

I think the first AMS version of B-4914 had this beige/gray roof. The later vesions always had the light blue roof, and the B-214 /215 had brown roofs. And Kweekalot, your box shown here is from around 1970, because it has this blue side. The earlier boxes were all yellow. Fallerfreak attached the following image(s):

You're welcome Kweekalot! I think Faller started to have this blue side of AMS-related boxes around 1969. For example there is a gift-box called 4003 which came in the catalogue in 1968. It had a VW and a Ford 17M on the cover and was all yellow like the other old boxes (4002 etc) The year after they changed picture on the cover of 4003 to a VW and a Büssing Truck, and then the blue side appeared too for the first time PS. you can buy the B-4914 above on E-bay right now if you like! http://www.ebay.de/itm/F...27ce942434#ht_4090wt_869

There has been a more recent re-edition of this model as part of Faller's go-kart circuit with the number #141072.
The only problem are the strange colours (orange walls and bright blue window frames and doors) of the ground floor. But this can be changed with some paint...

I started to built a #141072 kit a few days ago. Im proceeding slowly, however, because several parts needed to be repainted. Some figures had to be added too, to give the model a proper look. I'm also trying to get a fitting motor for a revolving sign on the roof. This will, however, not be any Shell or similar emblem, but the emblem of the VGN, Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg. I'm planning to use the structure as a kiosk, and small cafe for my bus station.

Hi Iamnotthecrazyone, I'm not convinced that it is a Ford Falcon, but thanks for trying to identify the car. I think I'll stick to my guess of it being a Vauxhall Victor based on a google picture search I just did and found the linked photo of a 1963 Vauxhall Victor having Swedish plates with the layout introduced in 1972/73.

Being an Aussie, He does have a point, about the Falcon, an XK model perhaps but there was lots of copying going on in those days as there is now and what would an Aussie Falcon or a pardon me, yank one, be doing in Europe, so I'd go with the V Victor, and remember, that is a drawing, the scale is a bit wrong, the Victor was quite a small car compared to the Chev. The link is not the exact model in the picture, an earlier pre facelift perhaps, but I remember them as a young boy, I was very keen on cars in those days And I surely do wish I still had my B215 |

Hi All, I want to keep my beloved Faller models neat and clean, and store them safe for our 5 cats. So I want to make sturdy carton boxes for each model. The boxes are also handy for transporting the models in a safe way. This morning I started with a box for my petrol station B-4914. It's really fun job to do, the hardest part is finding the right type of golf carton. The carton that I have used now, is perhaps a bit too rough and sturdy. The lower part of the "B-4914 box" is now ready, tonight I make the cover. Marco    |

The "House Of Bavarian History" (Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte) shows a structure at least similar to B-214 on a poster for an exposition about the early postwar and reconstruction era after WWII. The poster you shared with us is really nice, but besides the round panorama view I don't see much resemblance to Faller kit B-4914.
I do not think there ever existed a 1:1 prototype of this kit.

Per, regarding the Vätternleden night shot cars - It's a Vauxhall Victor FB alright... From when they made their own cars, before they started to sell branded Opels as Vauxhalls... I have a childhood memory of my father test driving just one of these in that bone white color with brown stripes on the sides when we were to get our own first family car in 1965... My father had always borrowed a company car when we needed to go somewhere by car until then... We ended up with a white Saab 96 -63 that took us through Europe a couple of times until 1970...
