Is it right to have a mixed consist with 43601-43602-43603-the 2862 car from the 29848 starter set and the cars of the California Zephyr set with the Alcos 37611-37612 infront of the cars?RollEyes

Foumaro,

I am not sure if this is prototypically correct or not, but I think you can get away with it. Denver & Rio Grand and Western Pacific originally operated this service, but it appears to be mixed consists. However, Santa Fe (ATSF) did operate a rival service, the "San Francisco Chief". I think more likely you could get away with D&RW locomotives pulling the California Zephyr, or remove the California Zephyr cars and be fine also.

Maybe this will help:

I think it would look great that way, those Rio Grand PA-1s are great.

Foumaro,

I can only imagine how awesome and cool it would be to have the Rio Grande PA's on the point of a mixed ATSF / Zepher consist Drool , who cares if it not completely prototypical, nothing in this hobby is ever 100%. For now I will just have to be happy having my F7's pulling this great train.

Thank you for your reply Gordon. You are right, there is no reason to be absolutelly correct.Your third photo is very nice and ispired me to upgrade my 3062 F7 Rio Grande to have a third perfect train.I hope one motorized unit is enough to pull eight metal coaches and the dummy unit 4062.BigGrin

Thanks,

PS: Foumaro, just a headsup, title needs editing : Streamlined cars "constist" ... should read "consist" ... ^^ ;)
Will help us all when we type "consist" in the search function ... BigGrin

All you need is this one...two motorized and one dummy.
This allows for exange with the WP ones that came in the Cal Zephyr set. (which I extended with 3 additional dome cars)
Now I'll just have to custom paint a Burlington Route trio...and we will be able to simulate a complete Chicago-Denver- Salt Lake - Oakland run!

This is a nice sollution Jacques,i need to find a second 3062 Rio Grande F7.I tried to pull the zephyr's coaches with the 37622 F7.It was a little difficult for the one motor to pull the metall coaches to the uphill sections of the layout. All these coaches needs two motorized units to pull them without problem.
