Joined: 19/11/2002(UTC) Posts: 378 Location: Leuven, Belgiium		Hello friends, for my roundhouse I am desperately in search for those rectangular smoke collectors that hang on the shed's ceiling, and run into the chimneys on top of the roof. I have found items in a Faller set as well as in a Bohemia set (33.018.1), but as far as I can see, they are not obtainable separately. (the Bohemia shed is out of production anyway - will probably be reintroduced by Klier in Köln, but up to now I have no news). Any suggestions ? Thanks, Bob

Or do they assume that it it is under steam it has to go in only one way? And which was would that be? One often sees steamers backed in so their front can be seen from the turntable.. I suppose the outside chimneys on the roof give us a clue...

I saw many Bw's doing this, but also as many the other way round : you are absolutely right : the placements of the roofchimneys disguise how they did it. I am making a 20 stand depot, so I would need in fact 40 if I want to park my machines both directions.... But there are limits... Bob

I wrote a request to KHK Modellbahn Köln in Germany (karl-heinz.klier1@freenet.de), and they provided me with some smoke collectors laser cut in hard board paper. Very nice results, though the assembly is not easy... I add some pics. For the smokers amongst you : they even work ! Yours, Bob the assembled smoke collectors fitted to the Pola shed roof I managed to even make the suspension wires to them love this picture 44 534 is getting warmed up - what an atmosphere ! see it work ! [:p][:p]

Joined: 10/02/2006(UTC) Posts: 3,997		I designed some smoke collectors today and spent the day making them up. I have six made and painted for my first 3-bay loco shed. I have another 12 printed out for my other sheds. I used a card that was thin enough to be printed on by an ink-jet printer. The pipe is a 6mm plastic drinking straw. I will publish the design etc. when I have it complete and can illustrate how they turned out. Mine are rectangular to allow for more flexibility is positioning locos.

Btw, Irfanview is a super program for viewing & converting graphic files, I use it all the time, mainly as a viewer. It's not as powerfull as, say, Photoshop but it's very easy to use, loads fast and is very small. And best of all... it's free! check www.irfanview.com (I have nothing to do with irfanview or it's authors. Just wanted to share this...[^])

Joined: 10/02/2006(UTC) Posts: 3,997		Hi Pieter-Jan the old Drafix program saves its files as .CAD but I am able to save as Windows meta file and DXF which should work barring bugs... I may also look at making it a pdf file.... Yes, irfanview is excellent, I have used it to make slide shows...
