I have been tinkering with designs for a small shunting layout using K-track; this is the latest result (130 x 33 cm). I would welcome advice and suggestions from people with more operating experience: have I crammed in too much track? Does it create practical problems which I have overlooked? I have no doubt that it can be improved upon!

Welcome to the forum, Mark.
I do not have a permanent layout yet, but have frequently made table- or floor layouts. Your layuot should have plenty of "shunting opportunities", but my limeted excperience tells me that to connect two cars in a curve can be difficult, so I would make all my parking tracks straight, even though it's a bit boring. |

Thanks for your advice about curves, Svein - I had forgotten about that potential problem!

There is so much to be said about the small layout. There are unlimited possibilities with a small layout. Years ago Model Railway Constructor, and Railway Modeler used too have track plans for the end of the line. The small layout. If you have a look around on the net ;the plans are there for little shunting layouts.Maybe the best way for you to end up with something you are happy with is to build/change/test on the dinner table. Practical problems are first to the front when you check it out before screwing it down. Have fun.
