Hello folks,

Yesterday, I bought a 2nd hand 3614 - BR C (BR 18) KWStE - in good condition BigGrin , and I plan to upgrade the "C80 like" decoder to an ESU LPV4.

When looking at the spare part diagram, the motor 602620 looks like a DC electric motor, but not a LFCM/SFCM/DCM.

Does an expert know which motor type is it ? The goal of this question is to know which params to apply to the LPV4 regarding the motor type (Maxon, Faulhaber, other ?)

TIA
Fabrice

Hi Fabrice,

The 3614 came with a seven pole high efficiency Faulhaber motor.

Hello Fabrice, that looks like a maxon motor to me. I know the picture of the loco I am sending you is not your loco but I think the motor is the same. Please confirm if it is or is not the same motor. It just looks similar to the one in the diagram. If not then it can only be a Faulhaber motor. As I don't have this model I am unable to give you a definite answer.

Hi Dave,

If it is original, it should look more like this:

3611 motor

which would make it "mit fauli".

Gordon if that is indeed the motor in the 3614 then I must concur it is a Faulhaber motor. I would love to add one of these beasts to my collection some time. Marklin # 37116 is looking more that likely to be the one I will get. Prices are starting to come down a tad on e-bay lately.

Dave the 37116 looks awesome, with soundThumpUp , very cool and not to expensive these days. I purchased 3514 way back in the day when digital was still new. It truly is the sweetest running analog locomotive I have.
Someday I hope to convert it, or maybe I should just get something like the 37116 with all bells and whistles, since this conversion is a bit more complicated than most, but the conversion topic in the other thread has me thinking about doing it all over again as I have all bits necessary for it.
