Hi all, How many members have the new central Station app that runs via your I pod or I pad? I downloaded the app($18 nz) onto my I pad (larger screen than I pod) and I have wireless connection to all applications from the central station. Great to walk around the layout and view from all sides with full control, The best creation that Marklin have invented. Highly recommended. Hi Bruce, I do like the application as well. IPAD has so much nicer interface with a clear and bright screen. Just compare switching a turnout out on the CS2 screen compared to using the IPAD! For people without IPAD it is however an extra investment and not on the cheap side Personally I ended up using my old business laptop and happily run my PC software from that. Brgds - Lasse |
Digital 11m2 layout / C (M&K) tracks / Era IV / CS3 60226 / Train Controller Gold 9 with 4D sound. Mainly Danish and German Locomotives. |

I have an iPAD and sometimes use it for my trains: funny gadget, but not worth for that money (actually I would have never bought it: it was just a gift) I still prefer using RocRail and a big screen (or better two screens, one for controls and one for layout, if you're lucky and have a "large" one)

The application in the ipad version it is one mayor big differentiator from the concurrence, I specially enjoy the track plan that can be enlarge or shrink at will, giving much more flexibility to operate and providing a good alternative to PC and the CS2 screen which is rather small and slow. The possibility to control up to eight locomotives independently gives a lot of fun to operators of big layouts. Nevertheless the new application from roco Z21 is expanding the possibilities even further, one example is the ability to fully program locomotives using the ipad, I hope this is in marklin plans in the near future, by contrast the track plan part of the roco application looks toy like to me, because it`s based on photos of the layout. Previously I was using lenz and touchcab (I’m in the DCC niche of CS2) and the difference is night and day, I still love the lenz system, based on quality, reliability and expandability, but in regard of ipad application touchcab it is way behind.

Hello.
I am sorry if this a dum question but how do I get the I pad to talk to the cs2 I have full wifi down in the studio were my lay out is and there is a router there as well. I can see that I can put a line cable from cs2 to the router but that means a 40 foot cable and it will be very difficult to install. Can you help me.

Hi Charles, you do have to link up your cs2 with Ethernet cable to your router. I had to use a five meter cable for mine even though it is in the same room.all works ok. Cheers Bruce

If I lay in the 20 metre cable and connect it to the cs2 and the router does the app load all the info from the cs2 onto the I pad. Charles. |

Charles, it indeed does - well, most of it... Automatic iPad detection too, if you configure the "Can gateway" correctly in CS2 - ie as an x.x.x.255 address (x.x.x. = your home network address span)... You will need a fairly recent software version in the CS2 to make it work, though - don't remember exactly which one is the minimum... Great stuff... |

Many thanks for all your help on this.it It will be 3/4weeks before I can get to putting in the cable as I am getting ready for a big exhibition. I will order the cable so I have it ready to do the job. It looks like I will be coming back to you when it come to what looks like the I P address etc. Will have look to see which software I have. Every time I done a upgrade I loose all my signals and as all the track in ballasted in it is not a option to reset them.
