This review is based off of my Marklin Br 85 37097. I have only used it in Analog operation so far so the review will be incomplete until the end of the month

Length over the buffers 18.6 cm

Locomotive
Sounds-Air pump, Whistle, Grate, Operatiing Sounds, Brakes, Steam Release
Traction Trires-4
Derailment- Not on C track even at high speeds.
Smoke generator Ready (mine has one installed)
Headlight- 2 Filament bulbs with 3 openings front and back.
Locomotive body- mostly metal
Frame Articulated to enable the use of R1 curves.
Couplers Strandard close couplers.
Notes
The locomotive is a very good puller. It can pull a 21 car train up an incline without stallinjg provided the track is supported from below. However the lights are quite dim in analog operation and the smoke does not run until the train controller is set to 150 and the sounds do not work during analog operation. It also is not compatible with marklin delta as well. Over all I would give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 but the lack of LEDs as the non bulit in smoke unit prevents me from handing our a 5 out of 5.

Edit I have now tested the locomotive in digital peration. Pulling power is improved especially on slower speeds. the lights are brighter but still some what dim. I would sitll have preferred LED's for the lights. THe sound however is top noch but can be drowned out by motor noise at higher speed at higher speeds when pulling longer trains and around corners. A los the locomotive does not come with Telex corplers however much I would have liked them. I don't know if it is possible to fit them to fit them and the sound equipment and the drivetrain/decoder under the locomotive body ai it is pretty crowded under there as is.

It is compatible with Märklin Delta if you set the loco to one of the five addresses supported by a Delta Control. Address cannot be set with Delta Control 6604 or 66045, so you need a friendly dealer, a friend, a club mate, or someone else who changes the address for you.

I don't believe so, I think for BR 85 it was just the older 3309 analog and 3709 digital models.

Hi all,

Just purchased one of these and it arrived today- it is the BR 85 001 model from the MEGA starter set- 29840. It came in perfect condition- hardly used however with no info.
I was wondering if someone could confirm if this takes the 7226 Suethe 10 unit or the Seuthe 11. Had no real luck searching Marklin.de.
Will post pics soon in other thread,

Cheers,

BigGrin

Hi Glenn, here is the manual for the 37097:

http://medienpdb.maerkli.../1/pdf/37097_betrieb.pdf

It suggests the marklin smoke unit 7226. I don't know which Seuth unit that corresponds to.
