Hello,
a friend of mine bought a very rare T 800 , built 1947-1948, this loco has
sealed motor brushes and front lamps with bulbs with cylindrical socket,
normal are bulbs with screw thread.
The pic shall show these bulbs.

T 800 was built from 1938 until 1947 with exposed (open) motor brushes,
1947 til 1953 with sealed motor brushes and to my knowledge always with “screw thread bulbs”.
Very similar to the T 800 , built 1947 -1953 with sealed motor brushes, are the two versions T 790.
These T 790 , built 1949-1950, have always bulbs with cylindrical socket.

My question to all, who else has a T 800 with these small bulbs with cylindrical socket (German - Steckbirnen).

Please note: we have T 800 with exposed motor brushes ( Koll Version 1-4 and 10 with rubber tyres) and T 800 with sealed motor brushes (Koll version 5 and 11, version 11 has rubber tyres)
Pics of my locos shall demonstrate this:
From left to right: T 790.1, T 790.2, T 800.2, T 800.3, T 800.4, T 800.11

T 800 .11 (version 11) has rubber tyres

The most obvious difference between T 800 and T 790 is the lever for reversing on T 790

Hi Wolf,

Thanks for this great guide.

The cylindrical socket is very interesting. It must have just used the parts of the TM 800 or something similar. I suppose the frame and everything would be similar to a regular T 800 and maybe the housing a little different.

I'm interested in your Version 11 and the other later ones from 1953. I don't hear about or see these much. So they were rebuilt in 1953 with newer parts but are older locos? And yet yours looks like it has the screw type bulbs. Wouldn't the cylindrical ones make more sense? It's really interesting these later versions of the T 800.

Best regards,

Paul
