Re the 2012 BigBoy #37994 - no difference compared to my BigBoy #37991 from year 2004. Well, except for smoke lifters there's not much of a choice when it comes to BB liveries. However, a great opportunity for those who missed her in the past ... Another story is that "new" GG-1 #37493. Since we had hoped for an entirely new look - say the Stars & Stripes livery M did on their mini scale GG-1 some years back, already. But except for slightly different stripes she's a kissing cousin to my GG-1 #37490 from year 2005. Nothing to ride home about ... |

I have a Märklin Santa Fe F7 A-B-B-B-A Unit and 12 Märklin Santa Fe Streamliner cars to make my Super Chief. I also have a Märklin Union Pacific Big Boy and a lots of Märklin american freight cars (AT&SF, T&P, M-K-T, WP, D&RGW, CB&Q, T&N, TexMex, B&O, NYC, RTL). Right now I´m expanding my american freight car fleet by adding more Märklin die cast tank cars. And I have a Märklin Southern Pacific PA-1 A-A Unit, which will be joined by a MTH Southern Pacific GS-4, as they are both waiting for a authentic Sunset Limited which is still to come in future (I wonder how long I will have to wait for that train (I don´t care about the manufacturer, the main thing is that it should be authentic and non brass). Oh, and I forgot to mention my Märklin Texas & Pacific F7 A-A Unit. My biggest dream is to have my most favorite steam locomotive, the Texas & Pacific class I-1b 2-10-4 #610, in HO scale for Märklin AC, so that it could join my T&P F7 on a long freight train. If Märklin or MTH would produce that locomotive it would be simply the best! I also have a Brawa Rock Island DL-109 for Märklin AC system and a Life-Like Southern Pacific E7, which was converted to the Märklin AC system. Both engines are pulling my Golden State passenger train. With all these US Märklin locomotives I´m very satisfied, since they are all good looking, very heavy and perfect runners and pullers.

Was somebody wanting an AT&SF PA1 ?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/...&hash=item3371a4f74cEdit; vendor also has an NYC PA1, a UP PA1, Amtrac Coach Set & 4773 Metal Box car, among others . I bought my 45702 Caboose & 45646 Box car Set from this vendor last week. (altho they haven't arrived as yet), seems very cooperative and friendly ! Edited by user 09 February 2012 01:30:46(UTC)

Hi all, seems like theres alot of knowledge in this thread regarding american loks, that i have recently started to collect. I have a question, is it possible to take two PA-1 from startset 29575 and make them a double unit, back to back ?
Regards, Henrik

Maybe it is if you take the decoder from one unit.Take a look at www.ebay.de item number 150613053275.

Thats is exactly what I am looking for, but there is no explanation on how it is done, it only says it is the same connection as the Rio Grande. So the question is how to connect them and make them act as one locomotive.

Hi Henrik, no changes in MFX-decoders needed as long as you run two identical engines (e.g. two #29575s) in "double-header mode" with your central station With older digital controllers (#6021) and FX-decoders you are in need of syncronising decoders to same address, top speed and brake delay Have fun, John |

Yes, indeed done like that and all units connected by using one of the drawbars generously donated by "BrandonVA's Maerklin F7 Drawbar Emporium". And yes, one needs long fingers to carry the ABBA consist. |

The more Units the merrier. -Brandon |

Thank you Sir,
Indeed, now that I am a full-fledged solderer, I extended the wires through the extra B unit, no shell swapping. Consequently, one single-pick up shoe under the blue B unit feeds the engines via the decoders in the A units, respectively. The more units the merrier, but the ABBBA consist - albeit nice for showing off in the forum - is a little bit over the top since it requires extremely long trains for a "balanced" look and consumes a lot of space in the terminal. For aesthetic reasons, I prefer the ABBA formation. Thus, I shrunk the red bonneted F7 consist to ABBA and inflated the formerly blue bonneted ABA to ABBA. |
