With Marklin's my world line of products, new track and turnouts are offered. What, for example, is the difference between 24611 and 20611?

Thanks,
Steven
Best regards,
Steven

Honestly, just by looking, I think 24611 is just replacing 20611. I can't guarantee that, but I see no difference between them, not even in price.

The difference is the packaging: the 20xxx rails come in plastic blisters, the 24xxx rails come in card boxes.
24611 is still listed, so I don't think it's discontinued.

At most brick and mortar MRR shops, you can buy two 24188 if you only need two. The 20xxx rails come in smaller packs, but are not meant to be split up. They are for big department stores and other cash'n'carry stores.

Please note: the turnout motors and control boxes for My World use different cables than those from the standard program. But the rails are not different.
Regards
Tom

Very interesting Tom! It's hard for me to believe that this is profitable....so many different packagings and configurations of essentially the same part. But that's a bit OT.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the explanation about the 24611 and 20611. Most of the tracks that I have are 24xxx tracks, so would it be better for me to only buy 24611?

I am asking this because you mentioned that the cables are different.

Regards, Rahul.

Hi, Rahul!

Different cables for turnout motors and control boxes.
I presume track pieces are the same (no cables with 24611 or 24612).

And I presume it makes no difference if you want to operate turnouts digitally. Only difference is the cable from the turnout motor to the control box.
Regards
Tom
