Hello Neil,
I am glad to hear you were pleased with RITTER. They certainly have been in the business the longest and have a good track record. Although some of their parts are a little low-quality in my opinion (the metal can be melted with an open flame), I believe a majority of their parts are good and their repainting services are the absolute best.
I'm not sure if they are selling paint separately...

Hello,
My experience with Ritter was not so great. I purchased several of their diecast metal boggie reproductions for several 350 series cars. The boggies were fine, but they were very poorly rivetted to the bottoms of the cars. I had them also replace vents on the roofs and had the roofs repainted. Many of the vents were loose, and it appeared they merely painted over the old paint and rust, rather than removing it first. I also never received a spoon type pick-up, even though I complained, that I ordered for a vintage SK800.
I will have to say that some parts were nicely made, and they did still have a fair inventory of original parts. This was about 2006. I went to their site recently, after not having been on there for years, and did notice that they do not offer many parts anymore. They probably can no longer afford to sell parts of very limited quantity to the general public.
Just thought I would share my $1600.00 experience (yes, they are expensive).

Hi Joe, Thanks for sharing your story...I too have noticed their supply of parts has gone down lately (last few years). Several months ago I made a fairly large purchase order of spare parts...they were back-ordered and were supposed to be produced in June (from they told me). The parts were never made and I didn't hear back from them...I didn't pursue it any further because I learned the parts are poor quality but that was my experience. Most of their parts are made out of a tin alloy which you can bend with your fingers. Best regards, Paul PS. If you need any parts for Marklin 00 from 1935 - 1949 just let me know. I have plenty of extra spoon-pickup shoes for the 800 series locos both the all zinc ones and also the copper/brass colored spoons from ca. 1946. |

Hi Guy's.
Sorry to hear that some of you have had mixed feelings about the service from Ritter, i have only purchased service parts such as armatures and field coils / brushes and these have always been good functional parts, maybe with items such as replacement bogies and cosmetic parts then original is always best, but then finding them in good condition is not easy.
It is good that we have this forum so we can all share our experiences then we can make good decisions when buying "expensive" repro parts !

Today,I tried to buy some 137.003 Coach Bogie rivets from Ritter that attach the bogies to the 350 series bodies.
The shipping cost to me in the USA was more that the value of my boxed coach. Near mint, other other than the missing rivet, the coach is in better then C-8 condition.
Naturally I cancelled the order.
