Sadly, I've lost one of the small hand holds at the front of this Loco. it is listed a s part number 21.

Does anyone know of a source that would stock parts such as this?

If you have the Lok book that came with your Lok (you can get it at the Märklin Service site too), the actual part number, it can be ordered from Walther's or even better, a good Märklin dealer. If either do not have it in stock, then it can be ordered from Märklin lokshop or something like that. Walther's does have some assortment part numbers set up and I believe some may be in stock too.

Märklin Magazine last year did an article where they were going to re-organize the spare parts and place these in common packages so for $5-10 you will get a bunch of related parts. Now most part sets will be unpainted, particularly for the diesel and E-loks so you will have to paint them to match the Lok.

It may be tedious to paint but it cuts down on inventory costs and improves delivery.

These small parts are so cheap that the labour to handle and stock these parts individually is large. It is much easier to manufacture, inventory and sell 500 small packages of parts rather than 10,000 individual parts.

You may see this on recent models, the parts list pointing to a common E####### or something like that. On older model spare part numbers, don't be surprised if your PN gets changed to a packaged part number.

I currently have an assortment of parts coming when I asked for a horn for a E-lok. I like this new system as it is more cost effective for everyone and should and will result in faster delivery of spare parts. For those that have large collections, I would think that 3 or 4 different assortments may meet 90% of your needs.

Most other manufactures do not go to this extent to have spare parts on older offerings.

Hi!

If you are still searching for this part, I might have it in stock somewhere. Seem to recall I mistakenly ordered a few too many a while ago. If you want me to look for it, just let me know. (I guess it would be nice to have a 100% complete model again.)

Cheers,
Sander
