As well as the CS2 and Big Boy, I am starting to think about getting either 39080 or 39081, but I cannot decide on which model. 39080 is Insider Club version from 2006, released in a one time series. No longer produced anymore. It is a 3 car version, with mfx and regular non LED lighting for the headlights and interior lights. It has full sound and mfx digital with a C Sine motor. 39081 is a one time series version from 2010 for the 150 years of German Railways. It too is no longer made. This is a four car version based on the Roland line. It has a lovely black v paint scheme on the two ends. It has LED lighting. It also has mfx digital and full sound, and it has a SoftDrive C Sine motor. I have never owned an Insider Club model before, so that's why I'd choose 39080. However, I like longer trains, so that's why I'd choose 39081. Also, I don't know if the interior lights for both trains turn on automatically, or can they be turned on digitally? For those of you who have these models please help me decide. Cheers! Tadzio.

Joined: 15/02/2008(UTC) Posts: 693 Location: Bournemouth, Dorset		For the 39080 a fourth car was available, it had the 'Fussball Weltmeisters 1954' inscription on the sides, and allows you to model the train that bought the victorious German Football Team home from their zworld Cup win in Bern in 1954. Technically, however, the 39081 is probably superior as it has the Softdrive SDS motor, which gives better running qualities in some conditions than the earlier Compact C Sine.

Good point: when buying the 39080, make sure it was upgraded by Märklin (motor driver PCB replaced).
