Hi everyone. Last night I finally found out which software version I have in my CS1. It's 1.6.45, according to the settings.

The CS1 in the starter set that I'm looking at is 2.0.3 . What new features are in that software version, compared to my 1.6.45?

I know for sure that I can't make shuttle trains on my version. With the 2.0.3 (also called the CS1 with Update) you can control shuttle trains.

Can anybody please help me out?

Cheers!

Tadzio.

IIRC 2.0.3 came with the function mapping. The hardware update included the Sniffer port and a booster connector.
Does your version have a web interface?
2.0.3 does, allowing to backup and restore configuration and to update the firmware. 2.0.4 comes for free and brings some improvements (don't recall details).

Tom

What's a Sniffer port? Is that connection to a wireless router? And what's booster connection?

I don't think my current CS1 has web interface. I tried to connect it a while ago, but it didn't really work.

So are you saying that if I get this CS1 with the starter set, it'll come with 2.0.3 and 2.0.4, or will I have to update it wirelessly?

Cheers!

Nuffin wireless. You can plug a network cable in to do the update via the web interface.
I use powerline LAN to connect PC and CS1 across rooms (WLAN wouldn't work).

Sniffer allows connection of other digital controllers (MM only with 2.0, DCC and MM with CS1 reloaded). Only way to use an MS2 with a CS1.

The v2.0 CS1 hardware update also includes the S88 buss connection, in addition to the items mentioned by Tom.

It will come with one version or the other. If it is v2.0.3, then you can update it by downloading the update files off the Marklin site, then use your PC's web browser to connect to the CS1, from where you can perform the upgrade to v2.0.4. There are no further upgrades from Marklin beyond v2.0.4 for the CS1.

The version 3.0 CS1 upgrade comes from ESU, and costs about 150 euros.
