I have tried and tried, but unlike Thomas I couldn't, to find some Fleischmann info.

The item in photo is Fleischmann 480211 I think?

Any ideas on Fleischmann generally, looks, quality, what materials used and so on?

Many thanks,

Jeremy.

ps. Anything similiar from Marklin?j.

Fleischmann wagons are terrific, as good as - and mostly better than Märklin. No parts to be glued/fall off as eg Roco.

Fleischmann bigger steam locos are tender-driven, a heavy lump of metal behind the loco means good traction but I am very reluctant towards tender-drive. Kind of like defeats the purpose of prototypical operation... Have no small Fleischmann steam tank loks, so I cannot comment this set.

Loco bodies are plastic but with very good quality and detailing. Only issue I have had is that a loco body has been too light so it wobbles around while being pushed by the tender...

In my eyes - Rather Fleischmann than Roco, but that's a very personal general opinion regarding my experiences with them. Others may argue.

Have an old all-metal Fleischmann BR80 sitting around too, just as heavy as the M-version...

That is a very nice looking set Jeremy. You must be running out of storage space..BigGrin

Juhan,is it possible to put small weights in the lok for traction?

Some Fleischmann items are even sold in a Märklin box (the Merkur train sets, the turntable, the small O & K loco). These are all I know, but there may be more.

Hi all,

> No parts to be glued/fall off as eg Roco. <

I solved that problem awhile ago.Laugh

>Fleischmann bigger steam locos are tender-driven, a heavy lump of metal behind the loco means good traction but I am very reluctant towards tender-drive. Kind of like defeats the purpose of prototypical operation... Have no small Fleischmann steam tank loks, so I cannot comment this set.<

Confused Flapper
the same could be said either way:M had feather light tenders with the pick-up under the tender,...FL did it just the opposite!Feather light loks with the pick shoe placed there!Cursing Hello?
I had 1 AC digital(M) small tender lok a BR 91,superb runner and puller,...And the BR 38 was no slouch either.

>Loco bodies are plastic but with very good quality and detailing. Only issue I have had is that a loco body has been too light so it wobbles around while being pushed by the tender... <

Lead is now added to the boiler.
