I have brought the 49960 off ebay and place on track with CS2 with 49960 timer working fine but Speeding not working and Km/h also nothing working. Speed Measurement = F1 Off F2 Off Route Measurement (Trip Odometer) = F1 On F2 Off Time Measuremant (Stop Watch) = F1 off F2 On Running Time Measurement (Odometer)F1 On F2 On I think the 49960 didn't reading the wheels/track. |

Hi Stephen I checked my 49960 massuring wagon This is a photo of the meassuring bogie: Compared to your photo, the three magnets seems to be missing around the axle. The hall sensor picks up the magnetic fields from the passing magnets. |

Could it be possible to glue three small magnets to the axle, as mentioned in the ESU installation instruction for the sound decoder?
Quote from page 8 (shortened): 3.6 Connecting a wheel sensor ... a miniatrure magnet has to be fixed on the axle. Thus each magnet triggers the reed contact once per turn... Suitable magnets are available in model train stores (e.g. Mini track magnets). They may have to be adapted using a file. End quote |

Stephen,
I had a friend with this problem which we managed to solve. It turned out that the seller had exchanged the axle since the old one had fallen of and been lost. Therefore we were in the same scenario as you are in. We solved it by using small magnets from a bicycle speedometer. You know the small part that attaches to the wheel spokes? The magnet on that one we found was very thin and shaped like a small u and with some glue it attached perfectly to the axle. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the result, but once you get hold of the spoke part and you have separated the magnet from the plastic holder it is pretty self explanatory. We found a replacement spoke part with magnet dirt cheap (€2) at a bike shop. Since they tend to fall off from bikes and get lost quite easy we were told that it was a part that is easy to obtain. I suggest you bring a wheel axle to a bike shop and ask if they have these spoke magnets. Try to find one you think might fit. If it works out you will still have bought an einheits-meßwagen for a good price.
