Running Trix Adler (three rail) on Marklin track

Hi guys
(I hope I have the right section for this)
Good afternoon from sunny South Africa. I am a model railroad 'appreciator'. I have Marklin track and loco's that have been in and out of boxes since I was 4 or 5 (in the 70's). I am now beginning to get more and more interested in doing something more permament with my train set. Having two sons of my own helps.
Now to my question..
I have an opportunity to get my hands on a Trix Adler (3 rail) at a relatively good price but I only have Marklin (not digital) metal (M) track, transformers etc.
Will the Adler run on my Marklin track?

Hi Angus,
Hard to say: There were two versions of the ADLER. The usual and common one for TRIX-EXPRESS cannot run on Märklin-track. It can be identified by its thicker wheels, compared to Marklin. But TRIX also sold a version for use on Märklin-track. That version has thinner wheels but must be run with DC. Not for use with a Märklin-transformer.

Hi Angus,
The train shown on the picture is the TRIX-EXPRESS-version which does not run on Märklin-track.

HO, it is actually quite amazing how many people out there don't really know what they have. My experience\thoughts of Marklin in SA is that it is very scarce and I thought I had a collectors set only to discover it was nothing of the sort, not that it worries me, I am quite happy with it and am sure I will be getting many more years joy out of it with my sons.
I don't have a permanent layout, when I feel like 'playing trains' I haul out all the track and do a layout with as much track as possible and then run my loco's around for a while. No don't ask me what they are, I think the one is the 3000(I think I have that right). I also have a Hornby Thomas the tank engine set for my boys. I was also given a whole box of Hornby Dublo (3-rail) track.
