There seems to be no AC model of the Liliput RABe 524 UNIRESO. I will be checking with Arwico (the Swiss distributor) to find out more details.

The 26579 Makies train set is shown with the same lok number and car numbers as the earlier 28453. One the the car numbers was already repeated in the earlier 46330 Set.
The 43671 Coach Set is the first reproduction of the Eurocity coaches in the new corporate livery of the SBB.
The Liliput Container Cars with Post Containers complete the earlier releases 240035-240038. A few of the earlier models are still available. Each set came with 2 cars and 4 containers. The cars are very nicely done and look wonderful in a unit train behind a SBB or SBB Cargo lok of Era V or Era VI.

The Roco "Schneezug" EWIV consist includes 3 coaches. Roco has not produced the two AS (Salon) coaches that were also operated with this train.

The Maerklin RAlpin Rola car Set takes over where Hupac left off. The RAlpin Rola operation is a joint venture of Hupac and BLS Cargo. The trains are pulled by BLS Cargo Loks (Re 485/486/465 or Re 425 (BLS Re 4/4). The matching Couchette coach is available in 1/87 from Liliput and likely soon from LS Models. A model of the newest former Eurofima type Bcm now going into service with RAlpin may be released from Roco or ACME at a later point.

I am trying to learn whether SBB Cargo's leased BR 186 (36607) are used in Switzerland or are limited to operation in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. I will confirm as soon as possible.

Regards,

Mike C

Hi Mike:

Thanks a lot for this thread. I hope it's not off topic, but I am wondering if L.S. Models is about to release, or has already released the SBB restaurant coaches with the TEE livery. They have released the set 47235 in 2011, but I haven't seen any news about the TEE coaches. Do you have by any chance more info about them?

Pierre:

AFAIK LS Models is planning to release additional models of the SBB WRm Donauwoerth Restaurant. The models not yet released include the version in orange with the kitchen end doors, the version in TEE colours and the TEE livery version with the additional Pleitegeier <+> logo as it looked at the end of the 1970s. I had heard talk that the TEE version would be delivered as part of a three coach Set for the TEE "Bavaria". LSM is already designing the matching DB coaches (Avumz/Apumz) for the Rheingold Coach Series. I do not know what the plans are for the other two models. It does appear that LSM is planning to release a model of the VSE A9 Eurofima, first announced in SNCB colours, so the orange version may come in a Set with Eurofima Am or more Bpm UIC-Z or some combination thereof. The TEE livery restaurant with <+> may come as a solo model. I guess that we will see during the course of the year.
Actual delivery will depend on when the models are inserted into the production schedule. Other items may take precedence, so it may still be a while before these models hit store shelves.
I don't know if you have either the 47219 or 47235 Sets, but these coaches have to be among the nicest that I have in my collection. I look forward to these and more models in the future.

As soon as I hear more news about LSM or ACME, I will post it here. FYI, there were some new diagrams of SNCB I10 models posted on the LSM site today.

Mike:

I can only agree with you about the LS coaches. The set 47235 is next on my purchase list. I just bought #47242 and 47243, and was amazed by the realism. Even mundane details like the toilet pipes are reproduced. LSM has even started to add in the spare pieces bag two ground springs, and the interiors are now prepared to receive lights (at least in those two models) I haven't yet tried, but it shouldn't be too difficult to add a Roco or a Marklin slider, or to use the Viessmann current couplers.

We can only hope that LSM will released the TEE Bavaria set this year, or the restaurant coach in different livery.

Looks like some good stuff coming this year. Looking at the M's retail pricing, I won't be upgrading my blue arrow or brown crocodile to the limited set. The makies train has the same numbers which is a shame (assuming Marklin doesn't correct this)

Looks like my spend will be with Marklins rolling stock sets, the Liliput 511, Roco AE 8/14and maybe a Piko Thurbo. other items tempt me, but not quite enough

Eyro products are sold via their website and via their shop (by appointment). Some other retailers (Roundhouse, etc) may occasionally carry their products.

Mike,

I came upon an Italian manufacturer A.C.M.E. and they are offering a 7 car set of "Cisalpino" ETR610 SBB CCF FFS.
It is item number 75031 and they also have a 75030 which I guess is the Italian edition. I have only found it at
www.tee-usa.com but not on the manufacturer's website.

Do you know anything about this ? ? ?

Rob,

This is in the works. My dealer in italy said he didn't expect it soon, but it is definately in the pipeline. Their big sets like this are usually expensive but quite nice!

The ETR 610 was announced last year. So far, I have not heard any more news or seen any preproduction diagrams or photos. I do not have any ACME locomotives. My collection includes a number of ACME coaches, which are very nice. I do understand that there have been some issues with operation on narrow radii and with Maerklin switch tracks. I think that although the RABe 610 in the new SBB colours is very interesting, that I will wait until the model is out before I make a definite commitment to this model.
From what I can see, the ETR 500 and the Settebello look very nice, but neither has been produced for 3 Rail AC. The only models made so far by ACME for the Maerklin system are the Traxx loks.
I would expect to see the Swiss model come out shortly after the Italian and Cisalpino (FS) models come out.

With the brown paint scheme, 14xxx road number, and wagons with brakemans cab, what is the latest time period this would reflect?

700 euro seems WAY overpriced though for a crocodile and some start set cars...

One additional SBB item to report, even though it's officially listed as a NS Export model... 47081 3 car set registered to Hupac AG of Chiasso Switzerland with trailer and containers belonging to the Dutch company VOS. The VOS Logistics unit trains travel through Switzerland and have over the past decade been pulled by SBB Cargo and more recently by Nordcargo loks through Switzerland on their travels from Holland to Italy and back.

More info can be found at the www.marklin.nl site and here: http://www.vanbiervliet....arklin-export-folder.pdf (Page 18)

Sorry to have to report that there are no other Swiss Export Items listed.

I was informed today by one dealer that he did not list the newly announced Roco Re 4/4II models as part of his Roco New Items for 2012. According to this dealer, the Re 4/4II are only scheduled for release in 2013. I have not yet heard any news about this from any Swiss dealer. I will keep you informed as soon as I hear more information.

Only 469.75 ++ from Lokshop, but I'm happy with my "clean" brown Croc I got last year and don't see the need to own this set in a randomly "dirtied" condition Bored

HAG is indeed announcing Re 484 SBB Cargo and Re 485 BLS locos but they are not expected to come out until 2013...The focus is on getting Ee922 out later in the year which was announced last year at the Nuremberg Toy fair. I believe the new management is also pushing for feature enhancements to the existing models such as 2-motor versions of Ae 6/6 and Re 4/4, apart from LED lights Re 420 and Re 460 models.

I was very happy to see Hag announce a model of the Re 484. It will be nice to have a metal model with more detail than a "Hobby" lok. Good call Hag! I am also very happy to see that Hag will release a dummy of the Re 4/4II in the new LION livery. I think that a Re 4/4II or Re 4/4III in regular livery as a dummy should also follow and we can finally have pusher loks that won't derail the train.:)

Thank you Mike, i always had the impression that the Re 484, was an inferior model, i guess subconsciously because it was always part of the "hobby" series, sometimes i even had this false impression for the prototype.

Ps: I hope HAG will find a dealer within EU, that will have all their products.

I don't see the business logic in a 484, at least from a competitive point of view.Practically everyone already makes one, so why try and compete- espcially at the top of the pricing bracket? For sure the sales are there to the loyalists and there is a slew of different liveries that can be done, but unless there is a way to do the tooling cheaply I don't see the ROI.

As a side note, the dunny LION RE 4/4 is genius! Hopefully price will not be too bad

I think that the Traxx decision is a very wise business decision. To date, Maerklin (Hobby), Trix (Hobby and Normal Line), Roco, Piko (Hobby and Normal Line) and ACME have models of the Traxx series in their catalogues. Of these, Maerklin is the only one who makes a model with a metal body, but as mentioned above, the model is part of the "Hobby" line with minimal detail. A Hag model of a Traxx lok will offer AC and DC modellers a detailed model with metal body, which has not been available to date.

Producing loks from the Traxx line also opens up international markets for Hag, which has previously made only Swiss models, with the exception of the Norwegian model of the Re 460 Class and maybe small production of the Finnish model too.

I think that Hag has finally woken up to the fact that Swiss locomotive production (other than Stadler) has effectively ended and that all future locomotives will be of the Traxx or Euro Sprinter series. This provides Hag with a means to produce models of these new models in addition to their roster of classic SBB models.
More and more, private operators are also using Traxx and other such loks on Swiss rails. Companies like TX Logistics, Crossrail, Veolia, etc all use this lok type, so there is a potential for such models with Swiss modellers as well.

So I welcome this move and look forward to seeing what these new models will offer.

Hi fellow members

I was looking at the "Swiss cargo" items from Marklins' 2012 new items. Specifically the "Rollende Landstrasse", items 47416 & 47417. The model feature simbolbs indicate "matal car frame & body".

What does that mean with these item; are the tractor trailer combinations also in metal construction?

I doubt it Marius. They've always been plastic before. Made by Herpa, I believe.

Yes, the trucks should be from the 'low end' Herpa line. I have a few of these and they look good on the ROLA cars!

Regarding the RAlpin/Hupac Sets with trucks, I was looking at one of the trucks from the Trix 24507 Set and it looks very much like a rebadged Herpa box but the trailer has the inscription "Magic" as does the truck, which also has a smaller inscription "herpa" on it. The cab is made of metal and the trailer is made of plastic. The details of the wheels leave a little to be desired and not as nice as other models, kind of like comparing a "Hot Wheels" car to a Matchbox or Dinky one.

Just checking in here- does anyone know if the Makies gravel train will in fact have the same road numbers as the previous issue of this set?

Thanks for any insights!
