I will try to list the production years, but no warranty.
There are big overlaps.
The data is based on Märklin Archiv ver. 4.80
"No letter = Mechanical Reversing Unit"
Basically all 800-series locos (1937-1957)
Basically all 3000-series locomotives, (1957-?)
"V = Electronically controlled mechanical reversing unit (Vorshaltelektronik)"
"E = Electronically controlled mechanical reversing unit or a fully electronic unit"
Almost all 3300-series locomotives (1985-1999)
Some 3400-series locomotives (1993 only?)
"R = 5 star propulsion, Regulated (Fünf-Sterne-Technik)"
3500-series locomotives (1987-1995)
"D = Digital control"
3600-series locomotives (1985-1996)
36000-series locomotives (1996- )
Some 3700-series locomotives (1985-1989)
The newer 30000-series locomotives.
"H = Digital control, High performance propulsion"
Amost all 3700-series locomotives (1991-1999)
All 37000-series locomotives (1996- )
"M = Delta (Mehrzugbetrieb)"
Most 33000-series locomotives (1996- )

The later years the Delta decoder has been replaced by a digital decoder.
