Today, I've converted or added a sound decoder into my ICE with 23 functions most of the functions are station announcements, from Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany,
The question is did the ICE ever go into these countries ?

Another project is also for the ICE 1 with 2 large loudspeakers. this should take place about approx 3 weeks time from now when I get another load of sound decoders.

regards.,

John

Very interesting! Will you be posting pictures? BTW, I also liked your modification of the French electrics with the taillights. It looked very good and they must really be nice to run as a consist.

Kind regards,

Hello,

the 3371 and 3671 are not ICE 1, but ICE Experimental (before the ICE 1).

This train was only used for experimental and testing purposes and never had normal passenger traffic.

So every station announcement is not realistic, in none of the countries you mentioned.

The normal ICE 1 3370 - 3770 anf further are going at least to Switzerland, but only with the specific vehicles with 2 pantograph on the roof, like Märklin Nr 3750.

Great job John - I'd like to do this one day as well.

With the station announcements - is it possible to make a WAV file and install it thru the Lokprogrammer? I want to make a station announcement like the ones in Sydney in the 1960's - i.e. with a heavy European accent. Can anyone remember them ????? Laugh Laugh

..................................

Yep. At any of our stations I have not a clue what the announcer is saying (I do also have hearing probs making it worse) Same in shopping centres etc.
Maybe ESU should supply better quality speakers to the real life stations.

As yet I dont have a train with station announcements so must have a look and get one.

John can you give us a video with the announcement please.

Arrivals or departures or the train that never arrived or departured ?BigGrin

There is one French announcement, I don't speak French but it sounds bloody awful, the other 2 sound all right.

I like to make announcements in a tunnelLOL

I have had concerns about the lack of participation regarding the switch over of ownership from the 10 year Anniversary celebration carriage and I've noticed there are still 10 cars to go.

My philosophy has always been: one for all and all for one.

Our regular participants have made it a worthwhile forum to be part of and all our onlookers have from time to time over the years started doing something with their inheritance, their collection or thinking and than decided to start a layout.
And we have had a lot of visitors who over a period of time eventually made a decision to join this forum.
We have had members who had financial difficulties or lost their job but found encouraging words and help from members and the most important aspect I've found our webmaster let us have a go, have a bash and let us express our deepest or darkest feelings for our hobby.

I just like you to be aware the time and effort it takes to run a forum and a little appreciation can go a far way and has far reaching consequences and results.

We all had encouraging words and ideas of how to keep Märklin above water and out of a complete meltdown, we are constantly advertising "New products" or New Items" but in comparison have little to say about how lucky we are being part of this forum.

Juhan is also lucky to have so many members who have in the past and present being deeply involved in such a versatile hobby and make their involvement present.

To pursue my personal goal and I can't speak for others, without going over the top, I would like you, members who haven't contributed to this forum to think again and take a few seconds what it has done to you being part of this forum.

As I said before it isn't about the carriage it is an honor and previlege for us and for me to share and contribute our experience, our love for this hobby.

So I ask again, be a sport and raise to the occasion and say cheers with out your 75.00 Euros in your pocket, its only a token you can be proud of.

Now back to the main object: Video of the ICE. (will only be shown "if" the number of carriages on offer have been reduced)

Here are some glimpses about the ice train conversion:

1.) it runs off the catanary system (nothing special about it)
2.) interior cab light (Aux 2) goes off when train is in motion with a loco driver present
3.) independent interior lights (Aux 1)
4.) Is there anything else you can think of, e.g. electrical operated pantographs.

Thanks Svein,

I've noticed the report about the TGV and having it as a 10 part unit, the comment was made, while one of the unit has got a speaker, the other motorised car hasn't.

I've been thinking about it because my ICE is a 8 part unit and the same observation can be made.

So what I will do in the near future, I'll put an ESU function decoder into one of the powered cars, set the same loco address and use the function decoder for the lights (head & tail lights).

This will give me 2 wires which have been made obsolete and use these 2 wires to put a 2nd speaker into the 2nd motorized car, problem solved.

regards.,

Hi everyone,

I'm very pleased on 2 fronts, the purchase of more 10 year Anniversary carriages and later on tonight, I will post a video of my ICE with: sound and 2 speakers (one in each motorcar) and a function decoder in one of the motorcar.
Bad news is: as the ICE went around my layout tracks without any trouble for an hour, yes, a short again but because I run the ICE from the Overhead, I've disconnected the red wire and I'm still able to run the ICE.ThumpUp

Guys,

Small Hick up with the layout, one double switch was not right and than to top it off my battery ran out of power.
So tomorrow there will be a video.
Another improvement I will do, will connect my ECoS for the first time to the layout and my Radio control unit.
So hopefully everything goes well until than.
