I was going through my Maerklin collection and I noted that i now have a total of 13 Re 4/4II, including the Crossrail Re 436 (37346.1). Of the remaining total of 12 SBB loks, there are 3 red (3434, 34344, 37356), 4 green (26534, 29859.2, 34341, 37320.2), 2 SBB Cargo (29483 and 37345), 1 Cargo Prototype (34345), 1 TEE (37343) and the fantasy silver edition (83434). Add to that the 3 Re 6/6 (37320.1, 37321, 37322), 3, Re 4/4I (37044, 39420, 39421), 5 Ae 6/6 (3638, 3737, 29850.1, 37366, 39361) as well as 9 Re 460 (34618.1, 34618.2, 34632, 34633, 3760, 39602, 39603, 39606, 39608) and finally my 26730 Be 6/8 and RAe/RABe Gottardo trains (39540, 37546).

I have not even mentioned any of the Roco and Hag Loks, but I am pretty much ready to open a H0 scale Locomotive Depot as my collection now probably rivals Erstfeld, Basel or any other Depot for the number of loks based there. I am pretty sure that I have already run out of unique digital addresses for my 6021.

At this point, there are not too many items that are still on my want list. I would probably go for a Re 460 without the 2000 inscription on the front, hopefully with sound, white LEDs and dual red taillights. Also on my list would be a Re 4/4III, both in SBB and SOB colours and a model of the Ae 6/6 with the red upper light. If Maerklin ever makes a Re 4/4I Second Series in red, I would have to consider that.

I am anticipating the LS Models RBe 4/4 (RBe 540), Bm 4/4 and Exact scale Gottardo train. I may also go for the RABDe 12/12 (RABDe 510). Other than that, I think that I have pretty much every model that I could want.

So, here's the challenge to the model RR industry: Can you come up with new models that I will want to add to my collection? Hey Maerklin, How about an EWIV AS to complete that series? What about a Lightsteel AB? Surprise me with a Re 4/4III Set (SBB and EBT) and a SOB Set with Re 4/4 and two Lightsteel coaches in green/beige!

I was thinking about the IC "Beethoven" coach Sets, but not sure if Maerklin will follow it up with a "Tiziano" or "Verdi" Set which would be more interesting. I know that LSM is already planning an IC "Tiziano" Set in exact scale.

So, Maerklin, Roco, Hag, et al, try to find a couple of models that interest me. I trust that you will release at least one a year. Oh, and thanks for all the lovely models I now possess.

Regards

Hi Mike!
Your depot looks pretty much like mine, except that I have probably a few Ae6/6s more (this was always my favorite anyway) and a half dozen Ce6/8 III.
Where *M* would really please me would be with the Ae 8/14 11851.
That one is missing on my Gotthard layout...
(of course I could do some kit bashing using Roco's 11852 Landi lok and the extra Ae6/6 orphan body I have lying around ...but that would be a discussion for another section of the forum...Wink )
Cheers

Mike,

You have a few more Re 4/4/II, than I have, to be precise I have none, which is a shame.
Marklin didn't come out with them and only at a much later stage whereas I've already started to stop buying locos.

Part from the Re 10/10, I haven't got either, these locos mainly Re 4/4's, are on my wishlist.

I do not have any of the Ae 8/14 models. I did not see the loks when I was in Switzerland as a child and other than seeing 11852 at the Verkehrshaus in 1985, still have not seen any of them in actual operation. The fire in 11852 occurred around the time that I arrived in Switzerland, as did the fire at the Luzern main station. It took a little while before the lok ended up at the VHS.
11851 had an identical external design to the 11801. The lok had a different motor system and received two Ae 6/6 driver cabs in 1961, making this lok more unique. The lok operated from then until it was retired in 1976. Aside from Lemaco and the odd small scale production (usually a Roco rebuild), there was never a mainstream model of the 11851.
11801 is still operational and is based in Erstfeld where it is used for historic trips and other events.

As far as Chengliu is concerned, he should be reminded that links like that are verboten and allowed to remain in the forum if he removes them and does not reoffend. If he attaches spam links again, he should be barred.

Inpressive collection MikeThumpUp. Thanks for the link to the rebuilt Ae 8/14, never seen that before.

I only have two Swiss locos. I'm mostly into era 4 and some era 3B, are there any Swiss loco to consider that are not green/grey, like my crocodile and Ae 3/6? I like the Re 6/6 in red livery, but I think it bit too modern for me?Unsure I know there was an Ae 6/6 in era 4 in red livery. Any ideas?

Just had another thought: why *M* not give us a wonderful model of one of the last SBB steamer, the beautiful C 4/5 ?
Would be a perfect complement to the "Habersack"!
What do you think?

@Piggy,

In addition to the light green Ae 8/14 (modelled by Roco), there were several Re 4/4I that were repainted in various colours during the late 1950s. Here is a list of the Hag Re 4/4I models from Roundhouse (Zuerich): http://www.roundhouse.ch..._Lokprogramm_Re-44-I.htm

Models of these loks were available from Hag. Maerklin also manufactures models of the same loktype, but has not yet announced any additional liveries.

Other models you can consider that were originally in brown include the Ae 4/6 (Roco), the Ae 3/5 and a few others. The book Lokomotiven und Triebwagen der SBB available from SBB Historic (www.sbbhistoric.ch) contains info and photos of most of the loks used by the SBB.

For BLS fans, there were the Roco models of the Ae 6/8 and other models from the early eras as well.

The red livery for loks was introduced in 1984, so this would be a little modern for your modelled era(s). You may prefer to opt for the earlier green livery (late Era III and early Era IV).

Here are some of my Maerklin Re 4/4II models. I did not have the space to fit all of them. Not in the photo are the 37343 TEE, 37345 Cargo, 34345 Cargo Prototype and 83434 Metal Edition.
From Left to Right: 37346.1, 3734, 37344, 37356, 29483, 34341, 26534, 37320.2, 29859.2

The C 4/5 had 4 of 5 axles powered. The C 5/6 had 5 of 6 powered. Both of these steam locomotives were built for the Gotthard line.

Excellent set up and congrats!
Your Re 4/4 II selection is just as big as my Ae6/6's!
Swiss loks + trains are fun.
We'll all have to come to Montreal to play (Swiss) trains with you!Laugh
