Hi Steven,
"breveté" is French for "panteted Design". That's no brand or mark.

Hi Stephen,
If they had been in better condition I would have put in a bid.
I'm sure they were mentioned on the forum a while back, because they are very similiar to Märklin.
Ian.

VB was one of a number of old French model companies which failed to survive the rise of Jouef in the nineteen sixties. VB was taken over by the British Lines group as part of an not over successful attempt to market Tri-ang Railways in Europe. Tri-ang was also to fall heir to the former Hornby Acho range when they amalgamated with Hornby following the insolvency of Meccano. The Hornby name eventually became attached to the range, though it owes much more to Tri-ang. Ironically Jouef was also to become part of Hornby by way of Lima.

Hi Steven and all,
I have pdfs of the 1956 (2.2 Mb) and the 1960 (1.6 Mb) VB-catalogues, I found on the web years ago. I don't find the adress back, but if you send me a pm with your e-mail-adress, I can forward the scans.
Regards
Markus

Hi Steven, Email received. VB also made very fine cars which are very similar to classic Marklin-cars. But most of the cars are expensive today. Just one example, VB car on VB rail: Regards Markus

Markus Hi Markus, would you please send me the PDFs? I collect Marklin Analog but I've just purchased a nice VB crane and want to know more about the brand. Many thanks from Argentina.

An update to husson73's link (no longer working), and this site while mostly VB, also has more info on other lines. I do not see a pdf part (blind, maybe?), but there are numerous scans of catalog pages. http://trainsdefrancois.free.fr/index.php |
