Ray, That reminds me of a picture I took some years ago on holiday: http://users.telenet.be/bertdewil/images/sw5.jpg (no direct img tag because picture is too big) This one was really pulling a train, so not just transferring locomotives. Bert

<font face="Verdana]Being a collector of '60s Märklin stuff only, I never felt the need to buy new models. But lately I find myself drawn to some of the newer stuff! That blue E10 has been calling out my name ever since Märklin put it on the market. It's a truly beautiful model I think. Congrats with your purchase - enjoy it!!</font id="Verdana]

Congratulations Palle,
Is it my indiscriminate enthusiam for Märkln or are their models really becoming more attractive each year? What a nicely detailed model you have!

<font face="Verdana]That 3034 is perfect, John. Even though the 3034 and 3037 weren't detailed as well as the 3039 and 3040 and don't have inlaid windows, the 3034/3037 just ooze character. They just look so good on the lay-out.</font id="Verdana]

Nice pictures indeed! Do you confirm the 37196 is a traditionnal 5 pôles motor or a "big" C-sinus?

This one's just arrived and is currently on test on the spare oval of C track and MS. It's a 3653 - Br. 120 electric. I much prefer the old TEE colours to the current red, and despite being a 6080/3 pole motor it's behaving well. |

Nice 120 Matt. I like them in red/cream too. You don't have to make the "grass" match the trains in colour though. Ray |

It's testing on the living room carpet at the moment - thing is, I don't want to turn the layout over to the MS just yet as I only have two locos with decoders, so instead it's running on analog until I can get a couple of the 60760 kits to upgrade the two electrics I showed earlier. The spare C track oval will then be amalgamated with the main layout to build one of the more spectacular designs in the Marklin planbook. |

I think this one had hardly turned a wheel - took a bit of running to get it loosened up, and I think I may have to take the shell off and have a nose inside to check the commutator is clean and the motor bearings have oil. Now to track down some more matching coaches! |

<font face="Verdana]I've had that BR120 myself for a while, but I sold it because (a) it was too modern for my collection, (b) the hood is made of plastic (it should've been metal) and (c) she didn't run very well. I regret selling it, though. I should've kept it, because it is a very handsome locomotive to look at. And yes, those TEE colours are the best.</font id="Verdana]

You should get a 37537 or a 37538. They're both metal already. Luís

I think you might have had a rogue example there Oscar - mine's running very well considering that it only has a 6080. What I have noticed with older Marklin diesels/electrics is that they tend to need a drop of oil on each motor bearing and also on the axle bearings of the unpowered bogie. They often become considerably quieter and smoother at low speed after doing this - this Br. 120 certainly did! |

[size=2]<font face="Verdana]Too much for me as well, Matt. But it's a wonderful model, that's for sure. A real beauty. I had the very first BR120 model series that Märklin made and I seem to recall it was the 3153.1.</font id="Verdana]
