Amazing Märklin vintage soldering kit, and a train maintenance tool kit! I wonder what the instructions say?

Thank you for sharing, husson73.

Cheers,
Ranjit

That is just awesome. I've seen those in the '50s catalogues but never for real.

This is one of the twilight zone moments - I missed this thread first time round for some reason, then tonight just happened to be perusing some early 1950's catalogues looking for something else and lingered upon these tools thinking how cool they would be to own and whether they ever come up on Ebay. And then this thread pops up. Weird.

I do however have an original old Marklin Signal tester unit - it's only in the spare parts catalogue. I'll try to find some images....

40 499 Signal Tester ("Prüfbrett")

I found the images - I have a very patchy scan from the reference page (don't have original instructions), and my own images are scans rather than photo's - I wanted some details shots some time back and took these, should have taken proper photo as well but I did find an image on the internet and see there are at least two variations, I possibly have the earlier one. Real easy way to test signals (and turnouts) with this unit.

It does actually have a base panel with rubber feet covering the wiring, I only removed it for the picture.

Hope it's interesting. PS, the parts sheet that the image is from is dated April 1974 so they we made or at least available as recently as that.

And while I'm on the subject (and in the same folder), how about the wonderful Wheel Press?, who wouldn't want one of these on their workbench? Sadly, I don't have one.

Again dated from 1974 and rarely seen on Ebay, but when they are they are always for a healthy price!!

Enjoy
