39051 is definately era IV.

I cannot remember what page I found it on but 39051 was described as 'fictitious representation of BR 005 in era IV livery'

Obviously, since they were all retired in 1958.

I have order it but it is already sold out at factory.

Only two locos per dealer.

It has been described on the forum as "fictitious" from ERA 4....

But it is not fictitious. On several railways documents, the nomenclature numbers of the BR 05 always are given with 3 digits : BR 05 001, 002, 003....
According to some documents ,after its service as a Cabforward, the 003 was "undressed" and on April 1945 (!) has been delivered "naked" to the DRB ,apparently in a nice black & white "photo livery" without streamlined body....ready to roll.
Compared with 002 & 001 it had a different boiler , externally showing some slight differences .
Compared with 002 & 001, the main visible difference is one less dome : the sandbox was moved under the boiler .
In MRR , the old Lilliput plastic model of "naked" BR 05 is a 003 .
According to the picture above : Marklin seems to present this model with the correct modifications (boiler + red cylinder box added on the right side)
In April 1945 the 003 was delivered with Wagner smoke-deflectors and a big tender - with 12 tons of coal it has been often described as the biggest coal tender serviced on DRG - but , compared with the tender of the 002, 001, I don't know if there are external differences ( possibly a side extension ?) nor if they are visible from the outside (may be more coal, less water ?...).....Later on, the DB replaced the smoke deflectors with Witte Deflectors. I don't know how long the DB has been using the big tender (12 tons) and the "normal" tender of 10 tons, nor when....

Will Marklin do the two posssible liveries of the 003 : 1 Grey photo with Wagner deflectors, one black ?
I like "grey photo" because it was a light paint which they weared untill the next service of the machine (overhauling). It was not a just for 1 week livery . So people could see it pulling trains with this livery for a moment....

Here , the link underneath leads to a forum (interesting topic on a french forum) on which we can see some photo of all the BR05 , 001, 002 and 003 (in photo livery), scroll down approximately untill mid page :
http://www.forum-train.f...&t=155&start=130 (click on the photo to enlarge...)

it is mentionned that 001 & 002 had a 2'3T37 St, while the 003 had both the 2’3T35 St with 10 tons of coal then the 2’3T38,5 with 12.5 tons of coal

(today, no link working from here...)

Of course the loco numbers have 3 digits, it is the 05 as in 'BR 05' that is only 2 digits. 3 digits 'BR 005' indicates era IV, since that is when they brought in the computer lettering from 1968.
The BR 05's we're all retired by 1958 so the 39051 with road number 005 003 is definately fictitious. It also has the triple headlights as introduced in eraIIIb from 1956/57 onwards while the 39050 only has the dual headlights on eraIIIa.

Thankyou for your other information, it has been interesting and I especially liked those photos from the thread.

Nice Stephen. I've just got my 39050 from Australia, after it went missing for 3 weeks, so won't be worrying about buying 39051.
