I thought it would be worth sharing this information for those considering purchasing either of these products.

Ranjit, I am thinking of you with the 00796 coaches!!

Checking the Marklin website, 30210 is a factory sell out with no more to be produced, most main dealers have sold out, those with remaining stocks have stopped discounting. It's decision time on thsi one folks!

The 00796 coach packs were originally sold out at Marklin, though several appeared on Ebay at full retail, and many packs were split down to individual coaches. I think there are 6 individual coaches in the pack, i.e. 2 of each coach are identical. It was supposed to be a one-time series like the 30210, however........

The Marklin 2011 new release brochure mentions the 00796 coach pack in relation to the new blue box Class 23 reproduction, so I checked the Marklin website and, sure enough, the 00796 has now returned to Yellow Traffic Light.
I think this means there are more on the way??

I have both as well few months ago.Wink

30210 already sold out and price may past 250 euro marks in 6-12 months time, 00796 have sold out because of limited in most Germany dealers.

Many split up 00796 on ebay and cost up tp 50 Euro each!

Can anyone confirm that Yellow Traffic Light means more on the way please?

I think I have found a 30210 for a good price, there are a few individual coaches on Ebay, and 3 packs of the DB coaches 00796-01, 00796-02, and 00796-03. However, ideally I would like to wait and treat myself to a complete 00796 box set.

Thanks
Ashley

Typically, after the yellow light, how long does it take or is it anybody's guess?

Ranjit, Dion and Bryan (oldtoot) have the 00796 set in stock at Toottoot, if you are looking for one. The prices are in NZD, and they will ship overseas. Plus they can sell the 12 cars individually if you want. Plus, with you being overseas, you should be able to deduct our 15% GST (VAT) from the purchase price.

Hello John,

I didn't bother to time travel back into the forum archves ... but if you are the one who insisted I should get the 30210 to go with the 00796 set, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The novelty of the V200 and her half of the tin plate car set hasn't worn off yet. Every night when I arrive home and stash my coat and bag in the shop, I fire up the layout and run them around a few times just for the sheer joy of itBigGrin

I had not realized that the 30050 was the same kind of model. Upon further investigation, it seems that I need to add it to my 2011 order. I guess it's a good thing that I limit my collecting to DB era III and IV stuff. Otherwise those two US models you mention might be too difficult to pass upWink

Bye,
Rob

I haven't got the 00796 set, but I do have my 30210 running with some tinplate coaches that I have which date from the 70's. They look fantastic too.

Hi Rob. You'll find quite a few here to blame for loving M's classic stuff.
But of course I do confess me too being guilty. Mission completed LOLLOLLOL

I guess for me it's a good thing that the DB never ran Gators! I've successfully tranferred that addiction onto the BR E69's and E70's.

I am currently the proud owner of three E69's and two E70'sBigGrin

I wouldn't bet my money on this (now have a look at our Gatormania topic) ... UserPostedImage

FYI - a Swiss CE6/8 (and similar stuff) is called a Crocodile.
But the heavy German E94s/E194s/E254s & the Austrian E1020s are called Gators - roger ??!! WinkLOL

From now don't read on further. It might become darn expensive ... Tongue

The saving grace for me is that for whatever reason, the E69's and E70's evoke the same esthetically pleasing emotion as the Swiss Crocodile. Yet for some reason, the German E94's, E194's and E254's have not.

So I stand corrected. I should have said it's a good thing that the DB never ran any Krocs. That said John, I will give the German Gators some additional consideration ... you have haven't steered me wrong in the pastSmile

Hi Rob,

I glad to see that you are enjoying the #30210 and #00796 set! Truly and amazing combination.

Btw, Did you get all the coaches or did you only get the DB ones?

Thank you for that information, David.

I am still on two minds if I should get the individual coaches or if I should get the whole lot. What do you guys suggest?

Cheers,

Depends on your needs and your pocket. I probably wouldn't get the complete set, but maybe some of the DB coaches.

Yes, David, I agree.

I am more inclined to get the individual tin-plate DB coaches, but I also like the "blue" box!

Hello Ranjit,

I purchased the entire set. I currently have the 1st and 2nd class DB coaches, the Belgian and Austrian coaches, plus the DB baggage car running behind the 30210. The other six cars are still boxed and waiting for a suitable locomotive. I'm seriously considering giving them to my old BR 18.4 who has been in need of a train sine I bought her back in 1975!

Bye
Rob
