But in Digital Command Control , you will have to fit it yourself.(Decoder)BTW, HO scale of Japanese prototypes are not popular in Japan and they are really expensive to be honest with you. This is one example of an N700 full-consist-bullet train in HO scale(In Brass..) And here are the manufacturers in Japan that produces HO scale..(But , they are really expensive and the quality is there) Katsumi(Brass models, prides in good quality stuff)http://www.ktm-models.co.jp/ Tenshodo(Best known Brass train producer, some equipped with sound decoder!)http://www.tenshodo-models.com/ Endo(Brass models , high quality as well) http://www.mr-endo.com/Kato(Small line of HO stuffs)??!! Tomix(Small line of HO stuffs)??!! You can fit ESU Loksound decoders into some Japanese prototypes(Produce exclusive for Japanese market only Hope it helps.. Cheers Chan |

There are plenty of other brands of high qualty plastic models, but you won't see them outside a hobby shop in Japan. They are the same quality as Fleischmann, or Kato, but unknown outside Japan. Multiple units, electric and steam engines. I have seen them in hobby shops there, but I cannot remember the brand names. Many Japanese models are at 1:80, running on 1066 mm (3'6") gauge

HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge. |

Hey Chan, Thanks for sharing, have always wondered why I have never seen good quality Japanese train models given all my good r/c cars and boats are Japanese (Kyosho and Tamiya). Happy to see that they do make some decent stuff and sad that it is not widely available. I would love to run a Shinkansen on my layout. Will see if I can find something on my next trip to Kobe. Provided its not too fiddly Alok

Thanks for the great info Chan.
My dad was stationed near Yokohama in the mid to late 60s (before my arrival, alas) and he loved Japanese Bullet trains, and their efficiency. I'd love to have one someday, prowling on an unrealistic layout with DB and US locs. Now I know why Japanese models so hard to find....

If I buy a $9000 Shinkansen model, I will have signed my death warrant with She Who Must Be Obeyed (and rightfully so I think)
