Hi everyone,
I apologize if this is a bit off-Marklin topic, but I haven't had much luck looking elsewhere. I see the Swiss A3/5 Steamer from Lilliput is now being delivered, part #131975.

From what I can tell, it is being marketed as a heavily updated model. What I can't tell, is if traction or the motor has been updated. Rumor has it the old one could barely pull itself, nevermind any coaches. I was wondering if the new one runs a lot better, as if so I'm in the market for it!

Let me know if anyone has info!

Actually this is not an updated model but an entirely new construction. I can't say anything about the type of motor used, but so far the reports about the model in the (Swiss) model railroading media have been quite enthusiastic.

Hello all,
I can confirm.
I got this one last september and tested it superficially.
It is very nicely build, well detailed and is fairly quiet.
It easily pulls my "standard" consist of 8 coaches without any problem accross the arrays of switches through my hidden station.
I haven't been able to test it on my new C-track R3 3% helix (not build yet...Wink ), but seeing how it easily pulls a heavy train, I suspect it will probably pull 6 coaches, which would have been prototypical on the Gotthard ramp.
It does make a nice duo with my Roco C 5/6, and I am planning one day to reconstitute the 125 Years celebration train, as the "Inauguration Train" when the layout will be completed. (Don't hold your breath yet...Unsure )
It is Liliput, which means you need to take a good look at all the small pieces like lanterns etc. and glue them , otherwise you'll be scattering the bits and pieces along the layout.
The pick up shoe is a bit flimsy, sometimes catching the raised pukos on switches and I'll have to find a suitable Märklin replacement.
The "copper" piping along the boiler is as stiff as a wet spaghetti Laugh: I'll have to replace that with some brass/bronze wires.
For amateurs of SBB steam, despite the small aesthetic problems, it is a must IMHO.
Hope this helps
