I have a nice insider locomotive class 103 (39579):

Until now, I wanted to run this with TEE coaches but I have plenty of this "color scheme" in myh future lay-out. I recently saw in the Marklin magazine that you can run this great loco with a mid '80 IC train by using:

- the three car set 43858

- and the three car set

So I proceeded with ordering the two sets. Unfortunately, no delivery date has been yet set in stone but I hope they will see the light early in 2011

Great train Mario!

I do something similar, but with a 3054 Br103 and 24cm tinplate coaches in red/cream and blue/cream.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Mario,

I already had the same consist using my 4295/4296/4297/4225/4294 coaches. The 42993 and 42994 Sets also recreated the same type of consist. In 1:87, you can create the an IC consist using coaches or sets from ACME (Reinhard der Loewe), LSM (Announced Set), Bpm released, Roco (reissue) and Rivarossi/Lima as well as ADE.

The 1:87 models include:
ACME: http://www.tee-usa.com/store/product31976.html
LSM: http://www.reisezugwagen.eu/?cat=33
Roco: 44746, 45834, 45785, 45786, 45787

This topic got me thinking about the 43927 and 43858 Sets. I already have the Trix 23477 TEE "Roland" Set (12 coaches) which I use with my 37343 Re 4/4II and my 39579 DB 103. I was thinking that I could also use the DB 103 and the Re 6/6 from the 37320 Set with the new IC coaches, as this would be prototypical for the end of the 1970s and the 1980s.
In the last post, I mentioned the various 1:87 coaches that could be used to assemble an exact scale consist. I was looking at the photos of the Bpmz 291 and decided that the Maerklin model suffers from a similar design issue to the SBB WRm from the Bavaria Set.

Here are eBay listings for competing models:

It seems to me that the window size is once again not tall enough. The model is clearly based on the earlier 4225 (1:100) model, but they could have improved the exterior aspect, seeing as it has been around 30 years since that model first came out. The little photo strip at the bottom of page 68/69 shows the prototype model alongside the Bm235 coaches from the same set and the difference in window height can be seen.

Here is a photo of the actual prototype (1:1) coach of the DB: http://www.railfaneurope...blau-beige/HB-Hbf-18.jpg
