In another topic we touched briefly on models not made yet by Marklin, so I thought it worthwhile to research exactly which models these were. The list soon became very long, so I have produced a list of only Steam locos which served with the DB. If you think there are any errors or omissions let me know.

Hi, Ray!
Nice list - but I'd like to add some information:
RayPayas wrote:
Br42 – 2 cylinder version of Br44

BR 43 was the 2 cylinder sister of BR 44.
BR 42 (tractive weight 85.77 tons) was a war locomotive that had to fill the gap between BR 44 (tractive weight 95.30 tons) and BR 50 (tractive weight 75.30 tons).
More tractive power than a BR 50 on relations where the BR 44 was too heavy.
Regards
Tom

Thanks Tom, I got them mixed up.

I think there was a BR 18.5 too.
A S 3/6 copy, build in the 1920's with a larger cylinder diameter
As far as I know, not made by Märklin. They did a 18.4

That's true Piet. I didn't include it as it's really very similar to a 18.4. I'll put it in now.

I would add:

- BR 07.10001
- BR 12.010
- BR 01.05
- BR 18.201
- BR 61.002 (only 001 as MHI)

Hi Emmanuel,

I know the Br61 002 was converted into the Br18.201 which served with the DR. As far as I know none of these served with the DB and fall outside my list.

Similarly, 01.5 and 07.10 are DR rebuilds of pre-war DRG and SNCF locos.

I'm not familiar with the Br12.01. Do you have any info on this one?

Looks as if 12.010 was an Austrian locomotive that was listed with DRG in era II.

If era II was included, the list would be much longer - but this is a DB list.

Some additions to your already impressive list Ray

18.0 (sachs XVIII H)
19 1001
19.0 (sach. XX HV)
36 (P4.1)
37.0-1 (P6)
38.70 (bad IVe2-6)
54.0, 54.2-3, 54.6, 54.8-10, 54.12 (versions of the Prussian G.5)
56.7 (bad. VIIIe)
56.5-6 (sachs. IX V, IX HV)
82 Neubau (1950-1955, last one out of service in 1972)

Most of those locs ended there life in era II, some managed to survive the WW2.

Yes it was never a DB, but it has a strange history: ÖBB Class 12 (ex BBÖ 214, DRG Class 12.0)

BR 12 (in german)

For the 18 201 they used the frame and five wheelsets from 61 002 along with two cylinders, one wheelset, and some other parts from H45 024. And a new boiler.

Tom
