Hello,
I am visiting at the moment my sister in Washinton D.C and i want to buy a Starter Set of LGB for my newphew. Could anybody adwise me a store. I looked already at google and for Washington i didn't find a store, where they have it. I found reynaulds.com. They have a great selection of Lehmann. But they sit in Ilinois. Any advise for a store ?

Thanks

Bodo

Bodo: This is the closest Marklin shop that I am aware of:

http://helmutshobbies.com/

Unfortunately, it looks like they are now mail order onlyMad

The Marklin.com website lists no dealers in the Capital District. However, there are many dealers listed for neighbouring Maryland and Virginia. I think Helmut's is probably likely to the one with the best selection. Specifically for LGB, this dealer may be a good place to start:

G-Scale Train Station
2975 Old Washington Rd
Waldorf MD 20601-3120
P: (866)374-9340

You can also go to Walthers.com http://www.walthers.com/exec/shops and click on the dealer lists for Virginia, Maryland and maybe also Delaware. You would then have to call or browse websites to see which lines they carried.

Hello Bodo,

Trains Etc.
8245 Backlick Rd # A
Lorton, VA 22079-1445
703-550-1779

It is probably 20 minutes outside of the city by car (non-rush hour), but last time I was there a few weeks back, he had a quite a few Marklin items and he was supposed to be getting a collection in soon. I would call first. I would think he would be closed today due to the holiday.

Good luck

Hi Bodo,

I noticed you placed your message in big scale. FYI if you are kicking around and looking for something to do, In Kensington, which is a much closer than Lorton (which I still recommend for Maerklin) there is a store called Kensington Trains and Guns. He only has a couple of Maerklin items but loads of large scale Lionel and other stock (if you are into large scale). . Also Perry's toy exchange in Wheaton, just up the street is stuffed with old toys and they do have a mostly American selection of trains (not huge), I think mostly HO stock. The stores are only five minutes apart.

Best of luck.
