A couple of interesting items, but nothing terribly exiting.

I will spend my money on some old favourites missing from my collection instead.

I look forward to seeing what the 42610 set will look like though.

Class 05 went out of service before it could become "005".

I don't know what was different between 05 003 and the other two, but I presume there were some differences because 05 003 was the only German cab-forward steamer.
No new items brochure yet, but it should come today. So wait and see.

Neither a 05 nor a 005 (rumours say this is the 2010 MHI convention model (2 per dealer) and therefore not in the new items brochure).
No 24360 or other new C track.

The 37659 is not a new item! It was produced as well in 2005 and 2006 with the same catalogue number.

What constitutes a new item these days?

The container wagons, the Br05, and the V200 have some appeal for me.

Whether I get them depends on money, what else I want, and whether I can actually get one!

BTW, Trix have some nice starter sets there.

That´s not an original. It looks photoshopped. Look at the 2 joints in the middle. I think they should do slim crossings instead. Who needs this?

Could be useful for people who use the Marklin arch bridges, also for those who have long straights, or those who have large shadow stations.

I think the price at 4.99 eur may be more than the combined street prices for a 24188 + 24172.

I agree, the 24360 makes sence for long runs of track, fewer jonts and less hassels.

Lokshop prices:
24172 & 24188 = Euro 1.76 each (Thus 2 x 1.76 = 3.52)
24360 = Euro 3.46

Not a major cost saving tough.

I absolutly agree. This is like laughing in the face of the users!
They should make it even longer and... FLEXIBLE!

I hope -for M´s sake- that they´ll make money with this product, but... X´íng and the flexible track¿?¿?¿?

This is a very slim double-cross! (pun intented)

This product should be judged independently of the existence or otherwise of other track pieces. Where is the logic in saying "Who needs this when we don't have a slim crossing"? What has one thing got to do with the other?

There are two issues here, not one.

1. 360mm straight, useful or not? I would say yes, it saves on the number of joints in a long straight section. Perhaps they could also produce a 720mm piece.

2. Slim crossing? Yes, very desirable for those who already use slim turnouts. Perhaps also further track pieces in large radius curves.

The way I see it, you can say yes to both!

Yep. Longer straight is a good idea and helps as there are less connections. Flexible C track would be the ultimate. The old Roco line track had some and C track on a similar design would be a big seller for Marklin.

Can anyone chime in and add some information on any problems with the 42610 set?

It have not in stock yet until Q1/2011.

The problem was 'Current-conducting coupling drawbars come from the factory already mounted in standard coupler pockets for providing power to all of the cars in the train.'

I don't like the drawbars, It should have RTS coupling such as 72021.

If i get a carriage set that has drawbars I always change to the RTS type couplings. Not the Marklin ones as they are too expensive.
and they come from RTS. and M overcharge pretending that they are of Maerklin origin

Using the 26610 HWZ as the template, the only issue was the coupling? Nothing with the scale look, buffers, R1 turns?

Would the RTS be a straight replacement or require some wiring?

Thomas, Just a straight replacement. Nothing to do except fit them into the NEM Pocket.

Thanx Nev. I typically don't do passenger, but this might work. See what the initial reports are when these arrive.

The 39051 BR05 will be in shop due Q1/2011.

Do you have any more information about this model? Road number?

Google search shows several websites list this item as being era4?!?

Seems like the 39051 is exactly the same as 39050, except with a display stand. Though some websites seem to be listing it incorrectly as 005 and eraIV.

Hmmmm maybe not. Even this catalog which steventrain linked in his item delivery thread lists it is 005, eraIV

http://mediencms.maerkli...in-Neuheiten_2010-11.pdf

Does anyone have concrete information on the 39051?

39051 is definately era IV.

I cannot remember what page I found it on but 39051 was described as 'fictitious representation of BR 005 in era IV livery'

Obviously, since they were all retired in 1958.
