The reason of why i did said boring video,has to do about visuell showup in smaller areas. You cannot see all of layout like this! Just tracks and trainmeetings... What my soon layout have you nothing to do about it!  |

Its a huge layout and it does give you some idea of the work that has gone into it.
boring yes but what do you expect from a train with a video camera ? I look at it from a different perspective, respect the guy who has taken the video, has done a lot of hard work and I'm sure we will see more from it from a different angle.
Whether it is a cab drive in a loco in Switzerland or this video, I'd rather watch this video because it is a model train than watching a prototype cab drive whereas the camera is constantly directed at the tracks.
I think Goofy has a point of saying it is boring but one has to see beyond the video camera gadget itself and appreciate the time it took to set it all up and the most important part is sharing it with us, which some members either can not do because they haven't got a layout, video camera or are not in a position to share anything with us and a remark from Goofy becomes a bit of a blow because he hasn't as yet put all the work into a layout.
Unfortunately he has only looked at from one angle, the video camera.
to operate a video camera isn't such an easy thing to do. I have had my moments, whereas people said, keep the video camera in one spot or set it up in one spot, the sudden movements give you a headache in the end.
So you spend an hour setting it all up, than downloading it onto your computer than editing it, if you have a comprehensive editing software and in the end downloading it onto youtube and even than you don't know whether it has been downloaded for public viewing.
There always be knockers who say I can do this better, this is boring but never tried it themselves.
So just show a little respect, for the time it took to make this video, while you sit in an armchair, smoking your big cigar.

Well boring maybe, but I certainly would not sign that comment "sincerelly". That's just plain vicious. Clearly English is not your native tongue, that's why it's especially important to make the tone delicate. My German grandmother who married into the surname Larsen warned me long ago about the rivalry between the Swedes and the Danes, making doubly sure I never misspelled her last name. Perhaps that is your basis for criticism. In any case, some of us guys get ideas for our own layouts from such videos. This one had some very interesting areas such as the travel between the collapsible gas tank and locomotive shop, and the single-track line strewn with fallen foliage. |

I thought it was pretty cool. Perhaps some pyrotechnics may have made it less "boring"  . Come on guys let's be nice. To the OP, are the large curves done with 2205? I'm jealous you have the room. Best, Ted
