I don't have much ERA V motive power, so at first these coaches will be pulled by my Br185 Hobby loco. I'm not sure this is prototypical, though. What loco would be most accurate? I received the first lot of Interregio coaches, 1 first class and 2 second class. When I get the 43550 driving coach I'll post pictures of them on the layout. I want to also get the new 43502 Bistro coach and 43503 bicycle coach, but I don't know where I'm going to put a 6 coach train on my layout! |

I went to the Amherst Model Railroad Hobby Show this weekend, and got a great deal on some z-scale coaches: Marklin 87055 Prussian commuter coaches in DRG livery. Marklin does an exceptional job detailing its passenger coaches for z-scale, better I think than some of its rolling stock. Every line of printing on the cars is legible (under a loupe) even though they are printed in letters a fraction of a millimeter tall. Here's two of them on the diorama in the late afternoon. --Mike |

Regards, John Hi John, Any Era V passenger loco would do. I have seen photos of IR coaches behind Br143, 103, 101, 110, 111, 218, etc. The most recent photo I saw was with a Ludmilla in front. My only Era V loco in red is a Br185 Traxx loco, so I am using this at the moment. I know, it's a freight loco, but it looks the part. |

I like these coaches both for the livery as well as their 27cm length.
I have a BR 218 that should be OK to pull them. |

Hi I,ve just got the 42229 set. Unfortuantly I can't afford the Br 17 to go with it. I Know it,s not the right loco but to run it but for now I've coupled it up to my Br 96, at least its from the right era. Some delicate bits on the ends of each carriage, but all up... nice . |

Also, I just received my 43302 set of 4 IC coaches (white with red). Also, I want to get some more of the older IC coaches (white and red with pink stripe) to make up a complete train. Ray, I think these trains were most commonly pulled with a red Br120 or red Br101. And they were often pulled with a red Br103. I use any one of these 3, plus a Br182 Tauras would not be out of place, and I guess a Br185 is not out of place either. As I have all 5 of these locos, I can let my imagination run wild!

My 43550 is on it's way This is my first cab control car. How does this light change-over business work? Is it a mechanical sensor which detects direction of rotation on the axle, or something more sophisticated? I can't see them on the photo, but presumably it already brings a pick-up shoe and ground spring? |

Only 16 after selling my older metal Marklin coaches. Maximum length is 24 cm due to R1 curves. Plan to purchace six new coaches and am interested in new Brawa " retro " coaches to be realeased in 2010 with lenght of 21.1 cm. Does anyone have experience with Brawa coaches?

Hi Ian, Those 4004 and 4005 are lovely. I'm not so sure about the 3003, which seems to have the axleboxes missing and a bit of twist to the chassis. Have a look here and compare to yours: Bigio's site is a wealth of information. I can recommend it heartily! http://www.bigio.net/Home/Home.htm |

Ian,
Those are very nice coaches! I like the smaller size items for my small layout. I'm wondering if they won't get lost on your layout?
Also, thank you Ray for the excellent link. In four years of following this forum, I've never visited that very helpfull site. |

Hi Dale, love those old Marklin tin-plate coaches. I noticed that the first class coach (3032) is the later version with the computer numbers and windows and frames moulded in plastic. Most of mine are like that, except for my 3024 which is the same as yours but much tattier! Congratulations on getting such well kept examples! |

A good seller in England and has few models still available. Price was more than I wanted but the quality is there and the 4032 was thrown in at a cheaper rate with the 4023/4024. I have 2 more inbound, 4026 and 4027 and once these arrive this will finish the carriage line up up

It would be unlikely to break any speed records, though! The 03.10 you mentioned would be OK, but I would also consider an 01 (3048), 03 (3085), or a V200 diesel (3021). If you have catenary an E10 (3039) or E41 (3034) would also look good. |

Some Pickies, Along with the Locos I received during the week was this set of 2 deckers. They along with the Ae 6/6 Loco are the Swiss S-Bahn set. the Photography is up to my usual high Standard. Tex Hi, Yes, I have some Brawa coaches. You need to be careful about the couplers, if you install Marklin type, they tend to foul the buffers, especially on R1 curves. The easiest solution is to cut away the lower part of the buffer. In general, my running all Marklin sets means I never have any trouble on R1 curves. regards Kimball |
