Very costly, at least to my standards, but this is a model I just had to have!

UserPostedImage

Such a lovely model! All-metal, heavy as lead, and loaded with every feature you can think of Razz. It is amazing how realistic the sounds are! It's awesome to hear the diesel revving up and then the train moving a few seconds later, exactly like the real thing. Driving characteristics are excellent, even in R1 curves and complex sequences of turn-outs.

I don't own a Central Station (too expensive) and I can't use all the sounds with my Mobile Station. Hopefully there is a way to swap less interesting sounds for the hidden ones that can only be accessed with the CS. For example, the MS has 2 horn functions, one short blast and a continuous blast. But I'd much more like to have the rail gap sounds instead of the short blast horn. I'll need to look into that.

The bad news is that my (small) annual budget for model trains is already gone and it's not even June. But I'd rather have two really exciting, top-notch models than six others who are OK but leave you wanting for more.

Yes, they can be swapped with CS1 or ESU ECoS (for all decoders) and with an ESU LokProgrammer (for ESU decoders only). Maybe a friend can help ...
Your SVT should have an ESU decoder, but the BR 23 doesn't.

No swapping required if you switch to MS2.

Well done Oscar, the SVT 04 is a real nice train. I got one of these last year in mint condition, and have now recently got the 39081 VT08 in similar colours to match. They are both very impressive trains, a must for any era III collection.

I've been having lots of fun with this model Woot. My only niggles have to do with its lighting - I think its interior lighting is too bright and too yellow. In addition, it's headlights are the exact same colour as its interior lights and the light in the engineer's cabin is always on. I need to see if I can change a CV value somewhere to dim the intensity of the lights a little bit. Other than that, it's perfect!

(This is my first model with modern LED interior lighting and I have to admit that the old, '60s lightbulbs look more warm and nostalgic to me - if only they didn't require so much current, my MS can't keep up with all that amperage).

The devices mentioned above to swap functions can also dim the lights.
I don't know any other way to do it.

Maybe you can even assign a function to switch cab lights independently (I've done it for some trains but I'm not sure 37772 was amongst them).

Thanks a lot! I'll see if I can find someone near me who has the equipment.

On another forum, someone told me that the decoders which Märklin uses are protected and that most register values cannot be changed. A possible solution would be to physically remove the decoder and then to use ESU Lokprogrammer and Prufstand to override the protection and change the values. That's starting to sound like rocket science Unsure.

The decoders are locked and you cannot upload new sound projects.
But I never had any problems changing function keys or function mapping using my Central Station 1. I never removed a decoder from a loco for that.
The options showing offered by the CS1 do normally work.

37772 is an "old" model with an ESU decoder. LokProgrammer will not work with new models like E 41/141, 39, 23, ...

Hi Oscar,
Great models you have there.
Interesting additions to your collection of the lovely older classics.

I purchased the 37774 (same model, but grey and blue colour) and as you say, these are some of the best M models.
Congratulations.

regards
Kimball

Very nice, Oscar!

I'm not very much into railcar trains, but this one is a beauty!

Enjoy!

BigGrin May I please be a little jealous? Not in a bad way, I have been, and still wanting one of these. I can wait longer, I'll have too. I can't live on bread and water.
Marklin's catalogue photos are nice, but you really captured the smooth texture of the paint. I can reach into the picture and almost touch it.

Thank you! The recipe for that is no flash, long shutter time, natural light and stable hands Smile.

Nice, but empty. They should've put some passengers in there.

Lubricating the wormwheel isn't as easy as it should be. The little hole on top of the wormwheel where the grease must go into is very hard to reach because of all the wires that are located there. The black imitation connection between the carriages is also in the way and I see no way to remove it. I needed a strong flaslight, a steady hand and a very small screwdriver with the grease on its tip to get the job done. Maintenance sure is easier on the golden oldies!!

santa has been good to you Oscar! If you can fit a toothpick with oil into the hole, that is enough lubrication for quite some time.

Incandescence rules! It's simply a beautiful model in any case, and let's admit it: despite their cost, we reap the joy they bring for years followed by the decades.
